To promote sharing and to create “brave spaces,” the learning labs were not recorded. So we cannot show you what happened. Our teammates had a lot to say about this unique and thought provoking experience:

I absolutely LOVED the multiple breakouts .. It was so refreshing to be asked to learn and do at the same time.

WHITE MEN AS FULL DIVERSITY PARTNERS

In Q1 2021, Barnes & Thornburg solicited the services of White Men As Full Diversity Partners (WMFDP) to host six firmwide learning labs designed to elevate our individual and collective consciousness around the very real and frankly very challenging topic of race. Over the course of three months, Team BT participated in the following sessions:

Because I am passionate about this topic, and determined to improve our understanding. I’m interested in how we’re approaching it … the reaction … from others, and how to identify where we-- as a firm-- can do better. And we can do better.

I want to be a part of a conversation to build bridges of understanding between people. I also want to be more self-aware of how my words and actions impact others. Importantly, I want to promote peaceful resolution to problems in our community and country.

Having Courageous Conversations About Race

Because turning a blind eye to systematic racism does nothing to help the issue. We need to have these tough conversations with our peers if we want to move forward, no matter if we feel it affects us or not.

Education is critical to change and thus must be ongoing. Challenge accepted.
