this might be the cleanest colour you’ve ever used
For years, color pros have wondered if it was possible to find high-performing hair color that doesn’t contain bad-for-your-client ingredients that lead to itching, scalp irritation, allergies, and other discomforts. Even better, was it possible to find these benefits in a single hair color line that includes permanent, demi-permanent and developers? Well, let us introduce you to hue-verse, a new professional color portfolio from evo that promises performance without compromise.
Here are 10 things to know about the complete range of ammonia-free permanent color and demi-permanent gloss.
The Formulas are Cleaner Than Anything You May Have Used
1
All hue-verse formulas are free from ammonia, PPD, resorcinol, mineral oil, silicones, sulfates and parabens. “Instead,” says evo Head of Education and Product Development Jay Kownacki, “we’ve packed them with more of the good stuff, including organic oils and low levels of allergen-free fragrance, resulting in color that is gentle on the scalp, hair and the senses. This means a more pleasant experience for colorist and client.”
The Formulas Are Clean But Also Hardworking
2
“Believe me when I say that hue-verse is truly innovative,” says Kownacki. “It’s an ammonia-free line that outperforms ammonia color, delivering complete coverage, longevity, vibrancy and out-of-this-world shine. Colorists can be certain they’re going to achieve maximum performance without compromising on a thing.”

HUE-VERSE:
performance comes without compromise.
hue-verse Was Created by Actual Colorists Who Know What Colorists Need
3
Tom Smith is evo’s European Colour Creative Director and Creative Director at the Billi Currie Salon in London where he cares for “high net worth” individuals, including international celebrities and sports stars. Smith was working as an educator for evo when the product development team tapped him to help develop hue-verse. He was honored and also thrilled, and as a result of his participation, he says, he can personally vouch for the authenticity of the line and the motivation of the company. “It has been so valuable to work with a line that has been built from scratch, using the most up-to-date science and technology,” he explains. “Because we started fresh, we weren’t held back by having to work with existing products and formulas. As a result, I believe we are providing real-world solutions for today’s colorists.”
The Technology is Cutting Edge
4
The technology story behind hue-verse is what explains the products’ clean performance. Basically the formulas employ the newest, highest quality micro-pigments that slip into the hair quickly and effectively without over-lifting the cuticle and disturbing the structure and integrity of the hair. And according to Smith, they also produce gorgeous nuances of tone and a slight iridescence that leaves hair looking shiny and full of life.
Grey Coverage is a Dream
5
The hue-verse permanent standard natural, warm natural and intense natural shades provide 100 percent white hair coverage, says Kownacki, and all other tonal series provide a minimum of 50 percent coverage. But that’s just the beginning of the grey coverage story. “Different clients and markets prioritize different levels of coverage,” says Smith. “In London, for example, clients want translucent color, while elsewhere in Europe, they like more solid coverage. Either way, you can achieve what the clients want simply by altering the natural series in your formula for multi-dimensional nuances or complete opacity, always with shine and vibrancy.”
Color Correction is Safer
6
Once again, it goes back to the clean and gentle ingredients list. Salons are packed with color corrections lately thanks to post-Covid DIY fails, and Smith is finding that the gentle hue-verse formulas are helping to maintain hair health thanks to the inclusion of naturally derived, concentrated organic ingredients. “The main thing when doing color correction is preserving the integrity of the hair, which is often already compromised when a corrective service is needed,” he says.
Longevity is An Important Part of the Package
7
“We’re commonly asked if the color line is vibrant and long-lasting,” says Kownacki, “and the answer is absolutely! We have formulated with a high concentration of pigment that ensures incredible lift and vibrancy, as well as organic oils and extracts that contain antioxidant properties that help to ensure color longevity.” Smith adds, “All hair color fades eventually but with hue-verse you never get those unexpected tones as it fades. That’s because our color is so gentle and it’s not removing too much natural pigment, a situation which can lead to that raw appearance when the underlying pigment is over-exposed.”
The Demis Are High-Performance Workhorses
8
hue-verse includes 85 permanent shades, 49 demi-permanent shades, five cream developers and one liquid developer. The color portfolio is broken into four series including a natural series, tonal series, mix tone series and high lift series. “The demis are acidic,” notes Smith, “which is so valuable because you can use them on pre-lightened highlighted hair and tone without breaking the base. Plus, they contain the same pigments as the permanent colour so they match in depth and tone perfectly.”
The Portfolio Works Hand-In-Hand With Every Single evo Product
9
hue-verse is perfectly complemented by evo’s professional lightening portfolio, bottle blonde, which includes two lighteners. “bottle blonde powder lightener lifts up to nine levels and bottle blonde clay lightener lifts up to eight,” explains Smith. “In the past it was a struggle to find a clay lightener that offers a spreadable, blendable consistency with the lift I need for freehand work. This one does the job.” Plus, when used with the hue-verse developers, both the clay and powder lightener offer the best in performance, condition and shine. What’s more, these new additions mean evo is now a full concept professional haircare brand. “Bottom line is with hue-verse I have a full scope of everything I need. I used to have to choose the best individual products from a variety of lines but now I have the best of the best with evo.”
Converting to hue-verse is Super Simple
10
“We know that switching out color is not easy,” says Kownacki, “so we created hue-verse with simplicity at the forefront. Not only do we offer maximum performance with an ingredient list that is cleaner than anything people may have used, but we’ve also kept the range compact so that it’s easy to use and simple to master. Our carefully curated colors are perfectly matched across the permanent shades and demi-permanent gloss shades, meaning they share the same easy to understand naming and numbering system and color chart. This makes life easier in the salon.”
