Learners undoubtedly need help in order to achieve success, particularly if a high-stakes examination is involved. This webinar will start by thinking about learning and then move on to discuss what a learning strategy is, as well as why these strategies are important. We will also consider what the future holds for our students and what a future learner looks like.

We hear about ‘collaboration’ as an important 21st century skill – but what does that mean for us as English language teachers? And should we be spending our precious time on it? We’ll look at what collaboration really means, what makes some people better at collaborating than others. We’ll also look at why it’s important for your students and can’t be ignored. Then we’ll share some ways you can help your students develop as collaborators – activities that are improving their English at the same time, whether the focus is on speaking, writing, listening or reading. We’ll also look at how collaboration can work in an online environment, particularly following post-Covid restrictions.

As children return to face to face learning, English teachers need to keep their motivation high, make lessons enjoyable and provide lots of interaction. This is especially challenging when maintaining physical distances between the learners in the English language classroom. This inspire session will share lively ideas to appeal to children’s curiosity, foster a love of English and provide plenty of communication opportunities. All of the activities and techniques demonstrated during the session can be used in the primary English classroom while still keeping a safe distance.
