The Citywire Fintech Forum is back.
When we launched our first Fintech Forum earlier this year it was new territory for Citywire. Yes, we have written about wealth and advice technology for years, but never before had we devoted an entire event to it. I am glad this is no longer the case.
The technology conversation has moved on significantly in the past five years. At one point it was a ‘nice to have’, or even a ‘nice to consider’. Now, however, we find ourselves on the verge of serious innovation, with clients likely to receive services that are more intuitive, personalised, efficient and effective.
Advisers and wealth managers are also big winners here. Developments in tech mean we are getting towards a place where two-way client communication is simple, rekeying data is a thing of the past, clients are easier to understand, and practice management is in one place and makes sense. I could go on.
We have a great forum lined up this afternoon and I am confident that each speaker will give you something new to think about. I am also excited about our keynote session with tech-philosopher Somi Arian. Somi is going to be assessing the ever-changing relationship between humans and technology, and how our understandings of work and business infrastructure can be adapted for success in evolving working environments. This is bigger picture thinking and I am confident we can apply it to make wealth management and planning even better.
Tech, as mentioned earlier, is no longer a ‘nice to have’. Seeing how it can make us all more effective, compliant, efficient and profitable, the question to ask is ‘why wouldn’t you embrace it?’
Here’s to another great afternoon of tech innovation and mastery, which I very much hope you enjoy. As ever, thank you for joining us.
Our events (both real and virtual), news, technology and analysis inform asset managers, investors and intermediaries around the world about the changing shape

The best thing you can do to ensure the highest quality is to make sure you have a great connection to the internet. Ideally the machine should be cabled into the router. Understandably this cannot always be done, in which case Wi-Fi would be needed. The recommended internet speed for HD quality is 3 Mpbs up and down, this can be checked on your machine by going to speedtest and pressing Go.
A headset with a microphone would also be ideal to achieve the best audio for the sessions.
Please also ensure that all non-essential programs are closed prior to joining the call. This will help reduce the processor and memory usage by the machine and also avoid any notifications from popping up.
One final tip would be to ask if members of the household could not be on Netflix, gaming and other internet hungry activities as this will affect the connection as well.
If your company has blocked the use of Zoom, you can watch the whole event from this website.
Each session will be streamed to this webpage so you won’t need to connect to Zoom to be part of the action.
To ask questions throughout you can join the Zoom call or you can email in. Buttons for both of these will appear under the video streams.
