Milwaukee Streetcar
“The Hop”, Milwaukee’s streetcar that becomes available for use at the beginning of November, is the newest completed development in a very active downtown Milwaukee area. It is anticipated that “The Hop” will not only provide convenient transportation services to the citizens of Milwaukee, but also aid in the promotion of further development downtown. The initial route is 2.1 miles with the tracks already laid for the lakefront route extension, which runs directly infront of the development site. So far, this impact has already been seen. For the first year, it will be free to ride “The Hop”, and it is expected to only cost $1.00 per ride after the initial year is up.
THE HOP
Officially open for business at the end of August 2018, the Fiserv Forum offers the residents and visitors of Milwaukee new ways to live, work and play. The 714,000 square foot arena is not only home to the Milwaukee Bucks, but it provides an avenue for all different kinds of entertainment for the city. The arena itself will be used for a multitude of sporting events and concerts. The surrounding district will also see a wide range of new developments in coming years, in the forms of both businesses and entertainment.

ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT
The Couture, a luxury apartment development, recently received federal financing approval, moving the project one step closer to reality. The project, which was first revealed in 2014, will serve as a key component to the streetcar system and will also have retail and public spaces. Through this project, the signature development site has the potential to connect via pedestrian bridge or skywalk to the Couture project, further increasing the connectivity and amenities available to the site.

Over the past five years, however, around 2,500 hotel rooms have been added to its downtown. Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance spent an estimated $450m to build the Tower and Commons 32-storey skyscraper, which was completed last year and provides office space for 2,400 employees. The state of Wisconsin and the owners of the Milwaukee Bucks, the local basketball team, forked out $250m each for a socking new arena that will open soon.
-The Economist, 2018
Ever since its early days as an agricultural port and brewing capitol, Wisconsin’s largest city has been a magnet for industry, immigrants, and intrigue. And now, thanks to a downtown building boom and an influx of new restaurants, bars, hotels, and shops, the city’s diverse and highly walkable neighborhoods are experiencing a revival that’s drawing visitors like never before.

LAKEFRONT GATEWAY PLAZA
The Lakefront Gateway Plaza connects Milwaukee’s downtown to its waterfront. The space will be a public space that will be activated through various programming initiatives and local vendors. The site will be connected to downtown via a pedestrian bridge allowing pedestrians and bicyclists to bypass Lincoln Memorial Drive. The plaza is adjacent to the development site, providing future development partnership opportunities as well as a potential pedestrian bridge, which would provide additional amenities and convenient access to Milwaukee’s waterfront.
