editor-in-chief, Michelle Lee, has said, “There’s not just one narrow vision of what’s beautiful.” Picking up that thread, she has an open and honest conversation with influencers about the importance of representation in the media. When we start recognizing there’s no one definition of beauty, we can create a world where we see ourselves reflected in magazines, TV shows, and advertising, which creates a deep sense of belonging and affirmation while opening us up to the beauty of others. No matter if you’re a person of color or transgender, have a skin condition or textured hair, everyone is worthy of being represented and seen.

Skin Acceptance
It’s time to banish the term “good skin.” A crew of inspiring
individuals are highlighting the beauty of all the unique types of
skin that exist in the world. We recognize that it can be hard to
feel 100 percent confident 100 percent of the time, but the point
is this: Whether you have acne, vitiligo, eczema, psoriasis, or fine
lines, you shouldn’t feel ashamed of how you look.

Identity
A person’s gender pronouns are never up for debate — they’re nonnegotiable. Five trans and nonbinary people who are helping society better understand the spectrum of gender talk about how their identities impact their interactions with the world around them. Whether you’re cisgender, transgender, nonbinary, or you’re just starting to explore your identity — the important thing is that you feel educated and empowered to accept yourself and others as they are.

Hair Acceptance
Hair can be an extension of your personality, a symbol of protest and nonconformity, or just a canvas with which to have fun and experiment. We all have different relationships with our hair, and nine women share why everyone should feel free to wear their hair as they please. It doesn’t matter how you choose to wear your hair — short, wavy, curly, colored, or completely covered — your worth as a human being isn’t defined by what’s on your head. All that matters is that you feel comfortable and happy with however it looks.

Body Positivity
Treating people based on how they look and their physical abilities is wrong, period. Let’s push for a world where we treat everyone with respect, no matter what, including the internal dialogue we have with ourselves. After all, our bodies are incredible vessels that enable us to live. In this series, nine women and femmes share how they’ve learned to embrace theirs. We all struggle with body image from time to time, but there’s power in recognizing that there’s no one perfect body and we all deserve to be accepted.
