Women’s sports is entering a transformative era—new leagues, new leaders, and new opportunities are reshaping the landscape. Front Office Sports and Gainbridge® teamed up to tell the story of the USL Super League’s inaugural 2024—25 season, the championship match that capped its debut year, and the people powering the rise of professional women’s soccer. Now, with Gainbridge as naming rights partner, the Gainbridge Super League is ready to write the next chapter.
Through conversations with league president Amanda Vandervort, Gainbridge’s Chief of Sponsorships Mike Nichols, and athletes Addie McCain (midfielder, Lexington Sporting Club, formerly Fort Lauderdale United FC), Emina Ekić (forward, Lexington Sporting Club, formerly Spokane Zephyr), and Jordyn Listro (midfielder, Tampa Bay Sun FC), the story explores what it takes to build a professional women’s soccer league from the ground up—and why it matters now more than ever.

Ekić, a Louisville native, returns to the Bluegrass State as one of the most accomplished players in the Gainbridge Super League. Her homecoming marks a major milestone for Lexington SC as the club secures the league’s inaugural Player of the Year.
In July 2024, after stints in the NWSL and Australia’s A-League, Ekić signed with Spokane Zephyr FC, where she made an immediate impact by scoring the club’s first-ever goal in the 17th minute of its debut match. Her consistent performances on field – 10 goals and six assists in 24 appearances – earned her the title of 2024-25 USL Super League Player of the Year.
Internationally, Ekić made her senior debut for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in 2023 and has earned regular call-ups since. She has competed in both UEFA Nations League and Euro Qualifying campaigns, scoring her first international goal in October 2024 during a Euro qualifying playoff against Serbia.

A Wylie, Texas native, McCain played collegiately at Texas A&M University before she was selected 17th overall in the 2021 NWSL Draft. McCain signed last year with Fort Lauderdale United FC ahead of the inaugural USL Super League season and played a central role in the club’s run to the USL Super League Final. The All-League First Team honoree cemented her reputation as one of the league’s top midfielders, leading FTL UTD in minutes (2,673), goals (10), chances created (40).
McCain joined Lexington SC this summer, bringing experience and skill to a team building toward an exciting 2025-26 Gainbridge Super League campaign.

Jordyn Listro, a Canadian international and University of South Florida standout, is a professional soccer veteran, having served on the Canadian national team and played for various NWSL clubs during her tenure in the league. She was a part of Super League history as one of the first announced players in April 2024, returning to the Sunshine State with Tampa Bay Sun FC.
Listro captained the team in its first season, making 29 appearances in the midfield to lead Tampa Bay to the inaugural league title in June. She is returning to the Sun this season as the team looks to defend its trophy.
