Kay Rodriguez is on a mission to make the outdoors more accessible—especially for city dwellers. Urban Outdoors, the nonprofit she founded in 2019, makes that goal easy, with online guides to adventure for all ability levels in 50+ cities across the US and Canada. A finalist for a 2021 Outdoor Retailer Inspiration Award, Rodriguez keeps busy writing and photographing the content that helps others get out. Her ultimate goal isn't just to involve more people of different backgrounds outdoors, but transform them into lifelong beneficiaries, lovers, and defenders of outdoor spaces.
