Optimizing the Workplace for Innovation
For creativity and innovation to flourish, space design should protect people’s ability to focus and encourage restorative behaviors in the workplace. Given the right spaces to support the ideal creative rhythms within an organization, people can be free to do what they need to innovate.
Optimizing the Workplace for Innovation
Two very different behaviors optimize creative thinking for innovation processes: high-focus work and restorative activities. We need to experience these alone and with others. Organizations that value and design workplaces supporting all of these activities can improve their innovation efforts.
Explore the growing evidence that supports this and how, coupled with our workplace expertise, space design can cultivate the creativity necessary to spark innovation.

Height-adjustable tables encourage posture changes to promote movement and well-being, so people can comfortably do their best work.
An adjacent lounge with visual privacy allows for individual restoration, an important part of the creative process.
A standing-height table provides an alternative posture for individuals or groups that supports both focus and restorative activities.
Pergola workspaces provide an architectural boundary as well as access to technology and spaces that support both in person and virtual collaboration allowing for group focus.
Pergola workspaces provide a destination space for team members to complete individual or group tasks without distraction and away from the open plan setting. Integrated technology platforms allow for collaboration across physical boundaries.
The workstations are positioned so individuals have control over visual distraction. Personal control within each workspace is available through storage and work accessories.
Adjacent lounge applications provide the ability to rejuvenate, continue conversation after a meeting, or encourage spontaneous interactions.
Bookshelves provide a sense of territory and boundary for a team, as well as a place to keep relevant artifacts in view.

Cotone Dining
The key to the design of Cotone Dining is the strong contrast between the frame’s rigorous, minimal line, which is made of aluminum and the soft, welcoming look of the seat. This frame, seemingly simple due to its minimal appearance, actually hides an industrially sophisticated internal structure. In contrast, the soft padding of its cushions creates a welcoming nest and an open invitation to relax.
