Nurse Practitioner Jenna Wolfe chose a career in family medicine because it offered her the opportunity to provide relational care to a broad spectrum of patients. What the Texas native discovered was that the real world of primary care was something altogether different. Long wait times, short appointments, quantity over quality – this wasn’t what she’d hoped for when she graduated from Texas Woman’s University.
“My favorite thing about being a nurse practitioner is developing relationships with my patients,” Jenna explains, “but the traditional healthcare model doesn’t allow for that. It’s become more about how we can see the most patients in the least amount of time to make the most money. And that’s really been the downfall of traditional healthcare.”
Jenna has since moved to One Medical, the tech-savvy, membership-based primary care provider with offices all over the US – and a few right here in Dallas-Fort Worth. At One Medical, the entire patient experience has been reimagined to make healthcare accessible and enjoyable, to the benefit of both patients and providers.
“At first, I thought One Medical was too good to be true,” Jenna remembers. “But everything they said turned out to be 100% true.”

First, One Medical offices look nothing like traditional doctor’s offices.
“Our offices are very homey, very welcoming,” says Jenna, who currently works at the Addison location but will be moving to a brand new Fort Worth Crockett Row location next year. “We have toys and coloring books for kids. The vibe is very calming. Everything here flows well.”
Next, the appointment process itself is wholly different. One Medical appointments last at least 30 minutes and are easily scheduled through the One Medical app with same or next-day availability. For issues that arise outside regular hours, One Medical’s 24/7 virtual care is always at your beck and call 365 days a year.
At appointments, Jenna greets each patient she sees personally, then walks them back to her care suite where she takes the time to discuss everything a patient needs while personally performing blood pressure checks and asking general questions, eliminating the patient from having to repeat him or herself. One Medical’s approach gels with how Jenna wants to practice medicine.
“It's very hard to establish a patient relationship and develop that trust with a patient in a 15-minute appointment,” says Jenna. “One Medical appointments allow for that relationship between patient and provider.”
A Personal Relationship with Your Primary Care Provider Isn't a Dream. It’s One Medical
My favorite thing about being a nurse practitioner is developing relationships with my patients."
Our mission is to help you take a more preventative approach to your health."
- Meghan Dowling, NP
Jenna notes that this relationship – when properly cultivated – can have huge benefits to your health. The goal of good primary care is preventative, meaning One Medical providers like Jenna help patients manage chronic conditions as well as live a healthy lifestyle to avoid more serious health crises in the future. Preventative care includes vaccinations and screenings for diseases like hypertension, cancer, and diabetes, that when discovered early, can be managed successfully.
“Preventative care is built on trust,” she says, “and that’s what we’re doing at One Medical. We build trust with our patients every day.”
At a typical appointment, Jenna likes to discuss her patients’ social history – which child just had a birthday, where her patient went on vacation, what nagging medical issue might still require intervention, etc. It’s a way to not only discover the right questions to ask about a patient’s physical and mental health, it’s a way for patients to feel comfortable enough opening up to her about their own health goals.
Better in-person appointments are just one advantage of One Medical. Another is its virtual care. Through their easy-to-use app, One Medical members get 24/7 on-demand care nationwide via video chat or Treat Me Now at no extra cost. Members can also send and receive secure messages with a provider, easily access health records and care plans, request prescription refills and renewals, plus book an in-person or remote visit in any state where we have offices, not just your home office. It’s a level of accessibility unheard of anywhere else in healthcare.
On top of being accessible, One Medical appointments are convenient, too. One Medical offices have many diagnostic and lab capabilities onsite, meaning you don’t have to go elsewhere for blood tests, flu tests, EKGs, or vaccinations. No more taking an entire day off for a scheduled check-up. One Medical appointments happen on time, every time. If a specialist referral is needed, One Medical is allied with Baylor Scott and White Health. Membership with One Medical is accessible too, with annual fees comparable to what many people pay for a TV streaming service.
One Medical makes healthcare personable, accessible, and enjoyable, but perhaps the best part of One Medical is that One Medical’s superlative patient experience works with your insurance.
“We take multiple insurances,” Jenna confirms. “Our team is awesome about confirming insurance and making sure that we take an insurance plan before your appointment.”
Ultimately, healthcare is at its best when it’s collaborative, a philosophy Jenna takes seriously.
“I'm very passionate about having a collaborative relationship with patients, helping them decide what is best for them, to get them to where they feel the healthiest and that we're doing the right things to increase their lifespan as well.”
It’s an approach that Jenna’s found works best with One Medical.
