Polyurethane Foam
Injection Concrete Slab Lifting
and Stabilization
Curling of concrete can be a common problem that occurs within industrial floors.
Curling is the distortion of a concrete slab into
a curved shape, where upward or downward bending of the outer edges occurs.

Upward curling
Moisture
Upward curling is caused by the upper portions of the concrete drying and shrinking at a faster rate than the bottom portions.
Oftentimes, it’s a result of the temperatures and moisture levels being substantially different along the surface compared
to that along the base of the concrete.

Polyurethane foam injection eliminates issues caused by
concrete curling, by filling voids and stabilizing the concrete slabs.
Polyurethane foam is a two-component, high-strength hydro-sensitive structural polymer that can be used to fill voids and cracks and seal leaks. The foam can also be used to lift and stabilize warehouse floors and commercial walkways. The material is lightweight but strong enough to support industrial weight as soon as 30 minutes after application!
4
Drill through to the voids
Polyurethane foam injection requires small holes with diameters rarely larger than 5/8 of an inch be drilled into the concrete.

Injection of polyurethane foam
A custom-designed injection gun connected to
a series of hoses is used to inject the polyurethane foam into each hole. The foam is injected into hole, filling the voids that exist beneath. This procedure
is repeated at each hole location.

Sweep up extra foam
As the underlying voids are filled and the pressure builds,
it can be expected that some polyurethane foam material
will surface through each injection point. The excess polyurethane foam material can then be easily removed
and swept away.

The slabs are stabilized and
rocking movements are eliminated.
After 30 minutes, the warehouse floor can support large machinery
such as fully loaded forklifts and all operations can resume.
