The lightning rod, invented by Benjamin Franklin over 250 years ago, remains the best technology for protecting buildings from lightning strikes. However, there is interest in upgrading this method. Physicist Aurélien Houard and his team at École Polytechnique in France have developed a novel approach using lasers to redirect lightning.
They did this by shooting "a beam into the air that forced molecules to undergo ionization." This process turned the normally insulating air into an appealing target for lightning strikes, essentially forming a temporary and manageable lightning rod in the sky over the designated area that needed protection. Further testing is required for this novel approach to lightning redirection, but witnessing the unfolding of innovation is exciting.

As an agency, we use tools like Bonusly to recognize each other. But I recently discovered this tool created by Zendesk where you can customize your own thank you card and I think the illustrations and art direction of these are so fun and playful! I love how easy it was to share on social or export your creation which makes it more interactive and unique.
