Microbes/microorganisms can thrive in our structural environment when systems or practices fail. Many are a nuisance; several cause disease. Antimicrobials are disinfectants intended to kill and control microbes. Remediation and routine use of antimicrobials are both regulated because while proper use is a net positive, misuse can be hazardous. This session introduces antimicrobials, dispels common myths, takes note of frequent mistakes, and aims to reflect and share the constant developments (such as pandemic) that impact restoring buildings gone awry.
