Award-winning ETF provider a leader in innovative investment strategies
With over $5 billion in assets under management (AUM), Hamilton ETFs is one of Canada’s leading exchange-traded fund (ETF) providers, offering an expansive suite of ETFs designed to help Canadian investors – and their advisors – get more from their portfolios. Known for its innovative investment strategies and commitment to supporting financial advisors, the firm has significantly grown its presence and AUM. In fact, the firm doubled its assets in 2023, reaching $3.7 billion from $1.8 billion at the end of 2022, making it the fastest-growing ETF provider of the year, according to National Bank Financial (NBF).
The firm offers 20 ETFs across three distinct categories: (i) YIELD MAXIMIZER™ ETFs, (ii) Enhanced ETFs, and (iii) Financial Sector ETFs.
Recognitions and awards
In recognition of its outstanding performance and innovation, Hamilton ETFs was named an Excellence Awardee in the Wealth Professional’s 2024 ETF Provider of the Year category. This accolade highlights the firm’s excellence in delivering high-quality investment products and services to the market.
YIELD MAXIMIZER™ ETFs – an income-first approach to covered calls
To address the growing income needs of many Canadian investors, Hamilton ETFs launched a suite of 10 YIELD MAXIMIZER™ ETFs with an innovative income-first approach to covered call writing across virtually every popular North American sector to provide high levels of tax-efficient monthly income. The first to launch was the Hamilton Canadian Financials YIELD MAXIMIZER™ ETF (HMAX), the most successful Canadian ETF launch of 2023, which now has over $800 million in AUM. Additionally, Hamilton ETFs launched Canada’s first covered call bond ETF (HBND), applying their income-first strategy to fixed income. Having launched their first covered call ETF in July 2021, Hamilton ETFs has quickly become one of Canada's largest and fastest growing providers in the category.
Enhanced ETFs – modest 25% leverage for higher growth and income
Further showcasing its innovative capabilities, Hamilton ETFs brought the first modestly levered ETF to market with the launch of the Hamilton Enhanced Canadian Bank ETF (HCAL) in October 2020. They subsequently applied this strategy to other blue-chip sectors including Canadian financials and utilities. With over $1.7 billion in the category, Hamilton ETFs is the largest provider of Enhanced ETFs where it continues to experience significant growth.
Financials ETFs – innovative strategies designed by sector specialists
Hamilton ETFs is also a leading provider of Canadian bank and financials ETFs and frequently shares its insights and sector commentary on its website. Its suite of financial sector ETFs include Canada’s only Australian bank ETF (HBA) and mean reversion Canadian bank ETF (HCA), both of which were recognized with FundGrade A+ awards in 2023.
Focused on providing advisors with excellent support and education
Hamilton ETFs places a strong emphasis on advisor education, understanding the crucial role advisors play in guiding clients’ investment decisions. The firm and its national sales team maintains extensive and regular contact with advisors, providing them with the necessary tools and information to help them meet the evolving needs of their clients and exceed their clients’ goals.
