Headlands International Dark Sky Park
Take stargazing up a notch at Headlands International Dark Sky Park, where you can see the northern lights. While this natural phenomenon is difficult to predict, park rangers recommend trying your luck around the spring and fall equinoxes, when the magnetic field is more likely to put on a show. Of course, the dark sky preserve has spectacular views of starry skies even without the northern lights. During the day, explore 550 acres of pristine woodlands. Keep an eye out for bald eagles, osprey, white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, coyotes, and the occasional black bear.
