Brian is anxious after his doctor tells him that he’s unable to work due to a back injury.
While at home, Brian reviews his disability coverage and feels relieved to learn he’s covered and will receive a portion of his pay while on leave.
Brian learns he can initiate his claim via phone or online. He chooses to start a disability claim online using his phone. Prudential then sends him an initial information package and acknowledgement letter. His employer also receives notification of Brian's filed claim.
Before Brian’s Long Term Disability (LTD) benefit start date, his LTD coverage is automatically added. He doesn’t need to take any action at this point. Prudential determines the trajectory and timing to add LTD.
He can view his claim status online 24/7 and upload supporting documentation through his mobile device. Also, Prudential will proactively reach out as needed for medical information on behalf of Brian.
A Claims Manager calls Brian to see how he's doing and check on his return to work (RTW) plans. Brian is recovering, but his doctor advises that he needs more time before he can return to work. Brian’s Claims Manager continues to review and engage clinical/vocational resources to help Brian.

The Claims Manager calls Brian and tells him that his LTD claim is approved. Prudential also sends Brian an approval via text/email and notifies his employer about the approval.
Brian is glad to receive a link from Prudential that includes resources to support his financial health, as this injury has made him much more aware of what it would mean for his family if he was without his income.
A few weeks later, Brian has a call with a Prudential vocational specialist to discuss a RTW plan. Prudential coordinates these calls and shares the RTW plan with Brian’s employer.
