Be sure to visit the Big Apple’s Christmas markets

New York City
From the classic “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” (1992) to the star-studded “New Year’s Eve” (2011) and the more recent Netflix romcom “Dash & Lily” (2020), there’s a reason why the Big Apple features so prominently in holiday movies. The vibrant city becomes even livelier in the winter months, when colorful lights illuminate its buildings and stores pull out all the stops to attract shoppers. Pick up unique gifts at the many Christmas markets dotted around the city, and catch the annual lighting of Rockefeller Center’s Christmas tree (December 1), which marks the unofficial start of the city’s holiday season.
Where to stay: The Central at 5th by Hilton Club puts you within walking distance of key attractions such as Times Square and Radio City Music Hall. After a day of shopping and sightseeing, rest and recharge in your plush suite, where you can enjoy a bird’s-eye view of Manhattan. Note: In New York City, guests at HGV properties will require proof of at least one dose of an FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine to access certain on-site amenities, including dining and fitness facilities. Local restaurants, museums and entertainment venues also require proof of vaccination.

Chicago
If you’re not one to shy away from the cold, then you’ll absolutely love Chicago in the winter. Lace up your ice-skating boots and head to the city’s many parks for a twirl around the outdoor rinks. One of the most popular — and picturesque — spots is the skating ribbon at Maggie Daley Park (opening on November 19), which features a path twice the length of a lap around a traditional skating rink. For something more laid-back, visit Millennium Park to marvel at the resplendent Chicago Christmas tree.
Where to stay: Hilton Grand Vacations Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile features chic studios and 1-Bedroom Suites tastefully decorated with contemporary fittings. With attractions such as Navy Pier and The Chicago Theatre located close by, it’s the ideal base for your time in the Windy City.
Hit the slopes at Glenshee Ski Centre

Craigendarroch
Situated along the tranquil River Dee, between the villages of Braemar and Banchory, this region in southern Aberdeenshire, Scotland, has been a favorite with the British royal family since the reign of Queen Victoria. The former monarch was so enamored that she transformed an old estate into Balmoral Castle, which continues to be the Scottish holiday home of the British royal family to this day. Ramble through the countryside or hit the slopes — the Glenshee Ski Centre is a 40-minute drive away.
Where to stay: Live like a royal at Hilton Grand Vacations at Craigendarroch Suites, a former Victorian country home that sits on a private estate within Cairngorms National Park. The sumptuous property offers spacious studios and suites (some with their own fireplace), as well as top-notch amenities, including a spa and two indoor pools.
