The World Was on Pause,
Animal Rescue Was Not
2020 has undoubtedly been an eye-opening year, giving us 20/20 vision in many respects. With a worldwide pandemic taking place, feelings of isolation and loneliness were understandably at an all-time high. The cure to these emotional side effects? Finding the perfect companion. With more free time and a concern that adoption operations would be suspended, people all across the country stepped up to foster homeless dogs and cats. These rescue animals were ultimately the ones rescuing us, providing the perfect social-distancing support
shelters in underprivileged areas and humane education programs that help prevent dogs and cats from having to enter the shelter system in the first place. Internationally, RPF is proud to partner with No Dogs Left Behind, a nonprofit which aims to end China’s heinous dog-meat market. Despite the difficult state of the world today, we must always find a way to better the lives of the animals that bring so much joy and comfort to ours. All companion animals deserve a loving home, and now more than ever, we need them just as much as they need us.

2020 has undoubtedly been an eye-opening year, giving us 20/20 vision in many respects. With a worldwide pandemic taking place, feelings of isolation and loneliness were understandably at an all-time high. The cure to these emotional side effects? Finding the perfect companion. With more free time and a concern that adoption operations would be suspended, people all across the country stepped up to foster homeless dogs and cats. These rescue animals were ultimately the ones rescuing us, providing the perfect social-distancing support
system. As a result, many foster placements turned into permanent adoptions. However, as the list of animals in shelters got shorter and shorter, it became difficult for those still looking to adopt. London Jewelers president Candy Udell didn’t let the pandemic stop her: Through the Rescue Paw Foundation, she continued to save at-risk puppies from the southern U.S. and match them with eager forever families in our region. As a member of the advisory board, Candy also lent her support to the College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University, which opened this past summer.
Rescue Paw Foundation has continued its support of no-kill shelters in underprivileged areas and humane education programs that help prevent dogs and cats from having to enter the shelter system in the first place. Internationally, RPF is proud to partner with No Dogs Left Behind, a nonprofit which aims to end China’s heinous dog-meat market. Despite the difficult state of the world today, we must always find a way to better the lives of the animals that bring so much joy and comfort to ours. All companion animals deserve a loving home, and now more than ever, we need them just as much as they need us.
