Looking Back at Science of Skin
Since 2020, AbbVie’s Science of Skin has united physicians, patients and advocates from diverse backgrounds to share first-hand experiences and candid discussions to explore ways the dermatology community can best support patients and help elevate the standards of care. Past events have explored a variety of topics including the science behind immune-mediated skin diseases, the barriers that exist for skin of color patients receiving timely diagnosis and culturally competent care and the mental impact of living with chronic skin disease. The 2024 Science of Skin event focused on the power of having empowering conversations to take control of chronic skin disease. This event explored how patients have re-claimed their lives following a chronic skin disease diagnosis and strengthened outcomes with their healthcare provider – paving the way and inspiring others to do the same.

In August 2023, AbbVie hosted a roundtable titled, “Science of Skin: The Psychosocial Impact of Chronic Skin Disease,” in which experts discussed chronic skin diseases like eczema, psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa, and their impact on mental health.
