What is Smooth Dimming? The digital nature of LED lighting requires the lighting to ‘step’ from one light level to the next. The step size is critical when creating a smooth visual experience. The human eye can detect changes greater than 3% of the green wavelength light, therefore eldoLED drivers step the light levels in increments less than 3%.

Visible and non-visible flicker can cause an array of performance challenges, such as unwanted video strobe effects and serious health consequences and neurological problems ranging from eyestrain to epileptic seizures. We suggest the following recommended practice for the specification of LED drivers:
Safe and Comfortable Dimming
Proper Flicker-Safe dimming addresses visible and non-visible (to the human eye) flicker. Hybrid HydraDrive is our signature eldoLED technology solution that combats flicker. This technology combines the best of Constant Current Reduction (CCR) and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). The result is natural dimming to dark (0.1%) and optimized flicker performance through a variable frequency. The flicker remains in the IEEE 1789 green ‘safe zone’ at all dimming levels.
Hybrid HydraDrive Technology
eldoLED SOLOdrive models bring the capability of deep dimming down to 0.1% to your lighting system and are compatible with DALI, 0-10V and LEDcode control interfaces.
Dim to Dark is integral in spaces where deep dimming makes all the difference. The sensitivity of the human eye is non-linear and perceives a 1% dimming level as equal to 10%. Dimming to less than 1% counters this natural sensitivity to achieve a true Dim to Dark experience.

The Standard of Performance
"LED drivers shall conform to IEEE P1789 standards. Alternatively, manufacturers must demonstrate conformance with product literature and testing which demonstrates this performance. Submit % flicker in 1% increments for full range of dimming starting at 500 mA for full output reading. Systems that do not meet IEEE P1789 will not be considered."
