THE JACK OF ALL LAWS
By Rishi Dastidar
Behind a capital city, a corporate city.
For everything there, contracts a must.
Navigating all activities, however tricky
Requires call signs broadcasting trust.
Behind the analysis, the feel of a gut,
A framework that is never infallible.
Can any plan ever be clear-cut?
No assessment ever stays on a pedestal.
Behind fast-moving hands of many errands,
Reactions compressing years into weeks.
Decisive business has to happen in seconds:
Internal graphs track emotional lows, peaks.
Seeing round corners no one’s seen before,
Behind every decision, the Jack of all laws.

To provide a fresh perspective, law firm Addleshaw Goddard turned to poets, because lawyers and poets use the same tools… words. These two professions use words to convey meaning; inspire change; and help us understand and navigate our world.
