Stackable Compliant Connectors
RC Series:
Compliant means that the connector terminates to the PWB using a solder-less, press-fit connection. Each contact contains a socket connection on one end and a compatible mating pin on the other.
AirBorn’s patented contact solution is referred to as the “eye of the needle”.
− Solderless terminations
− Qualified to MIL-STD-2166 & MIL-DTL-55302
− Easily blind mateable
− Repairable in most configurations
− Unique pin-out configurations for specific signal routing
− Minimal tooling required for pressing into boards
− Scissor action mitigates potential de-mating damage
Why RC Series?
Connector Design & Construction
− Core pins are rectangular to create a slotted cavity
− Guide pin hardware latches cover to base
hardware tines
− Two piece housing for repair operations
− Cap installed or snapped onto base via the guide
connector body
− Contacts are stitched into the base half of the
− Shorter signal paths
− Reduced connection points
− Designed for tough shock & vibration environments
• Nail head, full up contact or stub closed
− Full profile - .300" (7.62mm) height
• Allows for nail head contact only open
− Low profile - .150" (3.81mm) height

SCROLL DOWN
50% less connectors, shorter board stacks, reduced board footprint, & elimination of motherboards
RC connectors save space
— Fewer connectors
— Solderless, complaint
RC connectors save costs
termination
— Field repairable
Shorter signal paths and reduced connection points increase data and signal performance.
Increaced Performance
Fewer connectors & connection points = lower signal resistance & potential failure points.
Ultra Reliability
Selectively load contacts to custom route the signal through the board stack.
Highly Configurable
Signal routing or terminations can be accomplished using the nail head or stub contact.
A wide range of board spacing can be accomplished by a variety of contact/hardware lengths.
