The COVID-19 pandemic has become a glaring pivot point for these spaces, presenting organizations and their leaders with an unprecedented opportunity to rethink the fundamentals of the physical workplace. How will we each adapt, manage and reimagine the office of the future? What will it look like? Do we need it at all?
In the past three decades, a series of revolutions in office design have shown us time and time again that it is more than the physical space. The office is a place where people come together to collaborate, create, innovate, strategize and execute. It is a definer of culture and a driver of brands.

It can be easy to think about collaboration, creativity, innovation, strategy, and productivity as isolated factors. However, research indicates that it is much more complex. This presentation outlines how these drivers work with and against each other to create individualized systems in each workplace.

Organizations will need to define their specific criteria for where and how they want their employees to work whether they be at home, in the office or both. This presentation offers the data and insight to determine how much effort they will need to apply to each of the five drivers.
Some drivers thrive in the office, such as collaboration and communication, whereas productivity thrives at home. This research discusses how organizations and individuals will need to assess which drivers matter the most to move their businesses forward.
02
Choosing both, often called the “hybrid approach,” is not as simple as it sounds. Our workspaces naturally support collaboration, innovation and strategy. This research outlines what we have learned over the past year and how recreating these conditions virtually or in a hybrid setting will take significantly more effort.
