Creative diversity
Creative diversity demonstrates the variety of ideas, groups engaged and multiple areas of our business that have contributed to notable innovation activity.
Meeting the future head on through thought leadership
At the core of our drive to innovate is a recognition that creative dialog is essential to a positive experience and the vehicle through which new ideas form and evolve. Through an inclusive culture and a robust network of partners, our people are empowered to improve client experience and co-create cutting edge solutions that address emerging challenges and create new value for customers and communities.
Supporting energy transition: We have developed a patented process to assess a residual oil zone prospect for oil production
and CO2 sequestration.
Intellectual property
Arcadis continues to ensure our innovations are implemented correctly and maximized through patents and securing intellectual property. Some of our recent examples include:
Revolutionizing PFAS sampling: With PFAS present in groundwater at thousands of sites worldwide, it is critical to measure PFAS in the environment. Partnering with the College of Wooster, Arcadis has developed a breakthrough in PFAS sampling: a device that passively intercepts and retains PFAS that can be analyzed by a laboratory and that will simplify sample collection and reduce the time for sample analysis.

Craig Devine
Arcadis National Technical Expert
Allison and her team re-imagined how an environmental project uses data. Instead of static figures and maps, the team developed the industry’s first augmented reality (AR) platform for environmental conceptual site models. The result is a 3D hologram of the subsurface and thousands of sample points, allowing viewers to literally “walk” to the plume and control it with voice commands. This interactive digital experience supported site closure, saving our client millions of dollars.
An industry-first AR platform
"Every three to six months, the technology changes. We’re often the ones who bring the ideas to the table.”
Allison Yanites
Carly Foster and the Resilience team are constantly innovating and thinking about the challenges involved in building resilience. Our resilience experts teamed with Irys, a technology start-up to provides cutting-edge, human-centric tools to support government-citizen communication and engagement. Together, we are working with citizens to identify what they value most in their community and how flooding impacts them. The Climate Change Business Journal recognized the success of that program with its 2020 Business Achievement Award.
IRYS and Arcadis partnership for resilience
"The mind is always working. Empower people, and things are going to happen."
Carly Foster
One of the most exciting ideas is a groundbreaking groundwater remediation technology, the patented Horizontal Reactive Media Treatment Well (HRX Well®). Developed by a diverse team of Arcadis experts led by National Technical Expert Craig Divine, has the potential to be the first field-demonstrated in situ destructive treatment technology for PFAS anywhere in the world.
Open innovation and the HRX Well Project
"What if we actually engineered that ... taking advantage of what we see in nature and leveraging the behavior of nature instead of fighting it?”
Craig Devine
