Voltage Regulation
The VIPerPlus Series of high-voltage converters combines
an 800V avalanche-rugged MOSFET with a leading-edge PWM controller, enabling SMPS designs meeting the most demanding energy-saving regulations with enhanced reliability and scalability while also reducing the component count by 50 percent.
VIPower™ is a technology that provides control, protection, and diagnostics for medium/high-power automotive loads. The technology combines Vertical Double Diffused MOS Power devices with their own temperature and current sensors and CMOS and HV components for Power-Analog-Mixed design.
ST’s portfolio of silicon carbide devices includes 650 / 1200V SiC MOSFETs featuring the industry’s highest junction temperature rating of 200 °C for more efficient and simplified designs, and SiC diodes ranging from 600 to 1200V which feature negligible switching losses and 15% lower forward voltage (VF) than standard silicon diodes.

ST’s power MOSFET portfolio offers a broad range of breakdown voltages from –100 to 1700V, with low gate charge and low on-resistance, combined with state-of-the art packaging. ST’s process technology for both high-voltage power MOSFETs (MDmesh™) and low-voltage power MOSFETs (STripFET) ensures an enhanced power handling capability, resulting in high-efficiency solutions.

ST offers a wide selection of automotive MOSFETs meeting various automotive system requirements. The AEC-Q101 MOSFETs are available with a breakdown voltage from – 80V (p-channel) up to 1200V (n-channel) and are available in the most common package options for increased design flexibility.

ST offers a comprehensive portfolio of IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) ranging from 300 to 1250V, both in planar punch-through (PT) and trench-gate field-stop (TFS) technologies.

ST’s battery chargers are specifically designed for portable consumer electronics, smartphones, and wearable applications with charge currents from as little as 200 mA up to 1.2 A that can be used for any rechargeable chemistry lithium-ion battery. Products include highly integrated linear and switch-mode chargers combined with a set of added functionalities for traditional wired charging solutions and a wireless battery charging solution.

The L9963 is a Li-ion battery monitoring and protection chip for high-reliability automotive applications and energy storage systems. Up to 14 stacked battery cells can be monitored to meet the requirements of 48V and higher voltage systems.

Along with a complete portfolio of industry standard regulators for both positive and negative output, ST offers an ever-expanding range of high-performance LDO regulators addressing all the major trends in the industry.
Linear Dropout Linear Regulators (LDO)
ST offers a range of standard linear voltage regulators that are a very stable and reliable solution for general-purpose consumer, SMPS, and industrial applications. They combine the highest level of ruggedness with the widest versatility and ease of design, for all kinds of linear power supplies that do not require ultra-low dropout and low quiescent current performance. This family of voltage regulators requires only very common and inexpensive external components, such as electrolytic capacitors and resistors to set the proper output voltage in the adjustable versions.

ST provides a wide portfolio of high-performance step-up (boost) switching regulators, with both synchronous and non-synchronous switches and charge pump ICs. Other features include micropower operation with very low supply current, high efficiency, small size, adjustable or synchronizable switching frequencies, and current generators for LED driving.

ST’s RS-232 product family includes transceivers with auto-power-down and standby functions, multi-channel interfaces and driver/receiver circuits. These devices have a 5V supply or a 3V to 5V supply and are ESD protected enabling true RS-232 performance.
RS-4xx
High-speed transceivers for RS-485, RS-422, and RS-423
The low-power, high-speed transceivers of this product family are designed for RS-485, RS-422 and RS-423 communication applications with high protection level from 16 up to 256 nodes. These transceivers usually contain one driver and one receiver in half duplex configuration and operate with a 5V supply and draw a very low supply current when unloaded or fully loaded but with disabled drivers.

Smartcard Interfaces
Smartcard readers for set-top boxes and IC card readers
ST offers complete analog interfaces for asynchronous 1.8V, 3V and 5V smartcards. They can be placed between the card and the microcontroller with only a few external components to perform all supply protection and control functions. Primary applications are smartcard readers for set-top boxes, IC card readers for banking, identification, and pay TV.
