Operational Data Hub: The Missing Ingredient for Compliant and Secure Digital Transformation
Decades ago, the early days of process analytics generated a lot of excitement about the numerous opportunities for real-time release, process monitoring, closed loop control and other value-adding endeavors. Unfortunately, most data from PAT and other OT systems were still trapped within siloed data ecosystems that effectively constrained their value within the enterprise. “Freeing the OT data” for higher purposes began to make a lot of sense. But as automation and networking technology suppliers stepped up, several key requirements for these solutions emerged as well, including minimal disruption of shop floor systems, data integrity and data security—the latter of which was highlighted by some well-publicized data breaches.
This presentation will address an Operational Data Hub solution for aggregating, contextualizing, curating and brokering data in support of digital transformation. Emphasis will be placed on features that support safe, secure and compliant operation to support highly regulated use cases.

The benefits of real-time PAT solutions have long been understood. Whether based on everyday process measurements, like temperature, flow and pressure, or advanced online instruments such as NIR and Raman, data-driven multivariate models deployed in production are powerful systems for continuous process verification (CPV), real-time release testing (RTRT) and process control. The potential benefits are significant, providing early detection and diagnostics for deviations in process and product quality.
Join this informative session to learn how to navigate the complexity of deploying and maintaining these systems, especially in the context of regulatory compliance.

Deploying a Rugged PAT Model Infrastructure for Real-Time Monitoring and Control

There are many challenges in bringing a new product to market. A PAT system adds value
to the technology transfer journey by being able to quickly evaluate options in process development and capture the knowledge across the stages of scale-up. This is supported by ease of developing and transferring models through these scale-up steps, ideally all the way to commercial manufacturing. Because implementing PAT solutions for manufacturing has typically included the complexity of deploying and maintaining various systems, simplification of this architecture has been an important goal.
In this session, you will learn about several different tools including process and knowledge management, simulation and others that are being used to accelerate the technology transfer process. Gain valuable insight into this important step to enabling better process understanding and getting new products to market faster.

Biopharma continues to be a leader in bringing sophisticated new medicines to market that tackle significant healthcare challenges. Beyond successful clinical trials, however, a perennial obstacle to commercialization is the long time to achieve both the design and regulatory approval of the bioprocess to manufacture at scale.
Recognizing this, regulators such as the FDA are actively pursuing the use of computational modeling and simulation for process design, scale-up and regulatory submissions. In this talk we’ll cover the latest technology developments that support rapid knowledge creation for process design and characterization. The use of both mechanistic and hybrid modeling helps ensure that designs are optimized for yield, cycle time and robust operation, both for the bioreactor and the downstream purification processes.
Next-Generation Single-Use pH Sensor
Drug manufacturing continues to be a critical piece of the puzzle to ensure the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals and biopharmaceuticals. More specifically, the quality of a biopharmaceutical product is highly dependent on its manufacturing and control strategy. The industry relies on establishing and monitoring the Critical Process Parameters (CPPs) that impact the Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs) of the drug. A disciplined use of CPPs and CQAs throughout the different Unit Operations that make up the drug manufacturing process is needed.
Instrumentation plays a key role in the measurement of CPPs with pH being one such critical measurement. The technologies that underlie the pH sensor are designed to offer outstanding measurement performance for single-use bioprocessing applications. The 550PH sensor continues to offer superior accuracy, stability, gamma sterilization and one-point calibration features. The core technology is fundamental to offering best-in-class pH stability and accuracy under high pressure, high flow and varying temperature conditions. Join this talk to learn how an established world-class pressure, flow and temperature lab and rigorous testing protocols were used to develop and qualify these next-generation pH sensors.
