Our commitment to sustainability
Global citizenship is about using our sustainability experience and values to take direct action on global challenges.
The concept of global citizenship is embedded in the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Achieving these goals requires contributions from governments, industry, institutions, individuals and civil society organizations. The actions of individual companies are critical to achieving the SDGs.
In 2022, we joined the #Vision2045 campaign, which supports the UN SDGs by highlighting the mining industry's role in the energy transition and what we need to do to advance sustainability. The documentary series features companies from all sectors that are making a difference to the sustainability agenda.
Our approach to SDGs
Ausenco contributes to the UN SDGs by operating responsibly and solving societal challenges through business innovation and collaboration.
With decades of experience working on many of the world’s most demanding projects, our experts help create customized solutions, optimize value and deliver results tailored to our customers.
At Ausenco, we take a holistic approach to environmental stewardship and addressing the impacts of climate change.
Our people continue to work to understand and measure the GHG emissions from the services we deliver.
We are implementing improvements to our baseline inventory performed in 2021 to incorporate more accurate measurements and GHG estimations.
We are developing a roadmap to net-zero that is aligned with our core values and supported by science-based targets.
Our people are our strength.
Wherever we operate, we respect diverse communities and environments and strive to achieve sustainable outcomes for all.
Community-based relationships
At Ausenco, sustainability is managed from the highest levels. Our Board of Directors and senior leadership team know that strong governance begins with them. They have ultimate responsibility and accountability to shareholders, employees, clients, and stakeholders. It’s up to them to ensure the organization conducts itself in a way that is consistent with our approach to sustainability.
At Ausenco, we aim to only work with suppliers who are socially, environmentally and economically responsible and who share our values.
We recognize that our purchasing decisions can influence positive change throughout the supply chain, both in the products we directly or indirectly procure and in the communities we work in.

In June 2022, we launched of our Reconciliation Action Plan - Canada (RAP-C). It identifies 28 actions across four areas (leadership, people, business development and in-community) required to restore, establish and maintain mutually respectful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples.
In April 2022, we upgraded our Reconciliation Action Plan – Australia (RAP-A). The creation process included input from Elders of the Whadjuk Noongar People in Perth, the Turrbal People in Brisbane, and the Awabakal People in Newcastle. The plan was also supported by Leann Wilson, Regional Economic Solutions and Phil Thomson, Native Secrets.
In 2022, we launched the Reconciliation Action Plan for the Andean Region (RAP-Andean). We recognize that indigenous cultures and communities exist beyond modern borders. Our RAP-Andes includes the Andean countries of Argentina, Chile and Peru. RAP-Andes recognizes that certain actions will be common to the entire region, but each chapter of the strategy and development process will take into account the unique history and culture of the region's indigenous peoples and the unique circumstances in each country.
We conduct our relationships with the communities in which we operate with integrity and respect. Our role as a partner to the minerals & metals industry is to contribute to the economic development of the communities in which we operate and, where possible, to develop employment, procurement, community and contractor engagement opportunities.
How we create lasting impact
Our governance commitments include:
Responsible value chain
Their size and strategic importance to Ausenco’s business continuity. This involves identification of our largest suppliers as well as suppliers that are critical for delivering our projects.
The potential for environmental impact or risk. This involves identification of suppliers whose goods and services pose environmental risks or create significant environmental impacts.
The potential for negative social impacts. This includes the identification of suppliers whose locations or the goods or services they provide pose a potentially high risk in areas such as human rights violations, lack of labor laws, potential use of forced and child labor, violation of Indigenous rights, and other criteria from leading international standards.

People and communities
Community engagement
Business integrity
We look at sustainability from two complementary perspectives: internally through our governance structures, corporate strategy and actions, and externally through the work we undertake for our clients and communities.
We recognize that the world faces daunting challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, and habitat and species loss that require urgent attention. So, we are taking a more proactive approach to meeting the growing ESG expectations of our stakeholders.
Our commitment to sustainability is rooted in the core values that guide our mission to find a better way.
