Putting Vauxhall back into the ‘heart of the mainstream’
“My mission is to put Vauxhall back into the heart of the mainstream and cement our position as the only brand that exists exclusively for Britain and is doing everything possible to move the country to an electric future,” he says.”
“We still have the second-largest Retailer network in the UK, so we continue to be close to our customers to offer convenience and value for sales and aftersales.”
For UK fleets, Vauxhall offers a comprehensive product portfolio that makes electric mobility available to everyone, with a fully electric version across its entire car and van range. It also offers a hybrid version of every car model and plug-in hybrid versions of Astra and Grandland.
Auliar says: “It’s the best-kept secret that we have such a great breadth of powertrains for cars and vans, and we work hard to ensure all our vehicles provide a high specification while remaining attainable.”
The Vauxhall Grandland is the perfect example. With a choice of fully electric, plug-in hybrid and 48V hybrid powertrains, it caters to a wide range of customers whatever stage of their electrification journey they are at.
BUILT IN BRITAINHaving produced its first car in 1903, Vauxhall continues to manufacture vehicles in the UK to this day, with the Combo Electric van built at Ellesmere Port - the UK’s first EV-only volume manufacturing plant.
The Combo Electric sits alongside the Vivaro Electric and Movano Electric in catering for fleets and businesses looking for a capable electric van, making Vauxhall one of the only manufacturers in the UK to offer a fully electric version across its entire van range.
As the oldest and most familiar of Britain’s automotive manufacturers, Vauxhall is no stranger to UK fleets; but as customer expectations shift, Commercial Director Michael Auliar works to define the question: ‘What does Vauxhall stand for?’
ENABLING FLEET ELECTRIFICATIONVauxhall is helping to remove one of the main barriers for fleets moving to electric: the lack of accessible on-street charging infrastructure.
“Over 40% of UK households do not have a driveway, so we launched our Electric Streets of Britain campaign to ensure these drivers have access to practical on-street charging options.
“This is equally important for business fleet operators – according to our research, over 90% would be reliant on residential charging if they switched to a fully electric van fleet.”
Electric Streets aims to support local authorities in accelerating the UK’s on-street charging infrastructure and Vauxhall invites drivers to register their need for on-street charging at electricstreets.co.uk with more than 13,000 streets registered to date. This data is shared with councils to inform their charging infrastructure strategies – ensuring charge points are installed where people need them most.
SUPPORTING BRITISH TALENTVauxhall isn’t just supporting Britain’s transition to electric – it’s backing the next generation of British sporting talent as the official automotive partner of Team GB.
Auliar says: “This partnership is a perfect match, bringing together one of Britain’s most recognisable automotive brands with Britain’s most loved national sports team. We’re proud to be supporting Team GB’s athletes as they prepare for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.”
