WITH A LIVELY SPIRIT AND EMERALD EYES TO MATCH, LILA MOSS EMBODIES THE ENERGY OF VERSACE CRYSTAL EMERALD
Green-
here was probably never much chance of Lila Moss avoiding fashion. As the daughter of one of the world’s most iconic supermodels (you may be familiar with her mother, Kate Moss), the 23-year-old entered the industry with an enviable
pedigree — and plenty of her mother’s familiar features. But those piercing green eyes are uniquely hers, as is the presence she’s carved out in her own right.
As luck would have it, that particular feature feels especially fitting now. Moss is the face of Versace Crystal Emerald, a fragrance with a vivid green world that seems almost tailor-made for her. But the match goes beyond the colour palette. There’s a lightness to Moss, an easy confidence and a spirited quality that makes high fashion feel like something we’re free to have fun with. It’s an energy that makes particular sense in the Versace universe, where more is more in the very best way and standing out has always been part of the appeal.

MODERN MEDUSA
There are certain Versace signatures you recognise without needing to see a name. The gleaming gold, the unapologetic glamour and, of course, Medusa, the mythological figure whose unmistakable profile has become a house signature.
For Crystal Emerald, Moss steps into the reference herself — and it’s all in the hair. Photographed by Mert Alas, her golden mane flies around her face in every direction, reminiscent of Medusa’s famous serpentine locks. It’s playful rather than literal — a centuries-old symbol reframed through a thoroughly modern muse.
That sense of movement carries into the accompanying film by Simon Chaudoir. With ‘Mirrors’ by Nightbus providing the (stellar) soundtrack, Moss moves in a reflective emerald gown, the fabric shifting and shimmering around her, its hue mirrored rather neatly in her eyes.

SET IN STONE
All that glossy green has a counterpart in the fragrance bottle itself. Saturated emerald glass catches the light from every angle, while the oversized faceted cap gives it the proportions of a particularly extravagant gemstone. Subtle it is not, but that’s the magic of it.
There’s something pleasingly tactile about it, too. The weight of the bottle, the exaggerated facets and, perhaps best of all, the cool glass against your palm. On a warm day, even holding it feels surprisingly refreshing.
And while the jewel-like design makes a convincing case for leaving it out on display, it also sets the tone for the fragrance inside: vivid, fresh and full of life.
JUICY DETAILS
The vividness is apparent right away. Think of biting into citrus warmed by the sun: that first tangy burst of flavour before the sweetness arrives. Created by perfumer Gaël Montero, Crystal Emerald makes the same sensory entrance, with Calabrian bergamot delivering the initial rush of juicy brightness and peach essence following with something slightly softer.
From there, things get greener. Green rosebud brings a leafy freshness, giving the fragrance that just-cut, almost dewy quality of stems and petals, while jasmine lends a more velvety floral note. Together, the florals feel bright rather than overtly sweet, keeping things on the sharper side.
There’s an underlying smoothness even beneath all that pep, with white musk and Brazilian tonka bean settling into a soft warmth that rounds out the brighter notes without weighing them down. Pink peppercorn and incense oil add a subtle kick of spice, giving the fragrance a little more depth as it lingers on the skin.
Then there’s the raspberry sorbet — tart, juicy and almost icy, you can practically taste the sorbet on your tongue, taking the fragrance somewhere cooler and a little more unexpected.
And yet, raspberry never completely takes over. Crystal Emerald is difficult to pin to any one note; just when you think you’ve got a handle on it, something else — a burst of citrus, a hint of green rosebud, a touch of raspberry — comes back into focus.
The timing feels right, too. As the days get longer and bare skin starts making a reappearance, the richer fragrances that felt just right through winter can suddenly feel a little too much. This scent has the kind of freshness that makes sense in the sun — lively, cooling and light on the skin, but with enough presence to make itself known.
For all its layers, it never feels heavy. It’s bright and sunny from beginning to end, just with different elements doing the legwork each time you take it in. In fact, fittingly for a fragrance inspired by a gemstone, it almost smells like it sparkles. Which, come to think of it, makes Moss and those emerald eyes feel like an even better match.
