Client Challenges

To support the Defense Logistics Agency’s (DLA) audit objectives, the Enterprise Data Team required support in developing organic technology capabilities, reducing reconciliation variances, and creating budget and financial reports and visualizations to assist with root cause analyses.

The Army has identified financial, logistical, and information technology-related impediments to obtaining a financial statement audit opinion, which are further complicated by the size, scope, and wide geographic distribution of operations.

BDO's Solution

Developed automated processes for extracting, analyzing, and the reporting of data from the DLA’s SAP ECC system. Our automated approach has allowed the DLA to realign resources from mundane and repetitive tasks to more value-driven activities.

Data to support monthly hire to retention reconciliation (DCPS to EBS) report, Quarterly Financial Analysis Report (QFAR), negative payables report, and Fund 11 sales order visualization in Qlik Sense Enterprise.

Utilizing processing tools such as Alteryx and SAS have allowed the DLA to process large datasets and achieve reporting insights that were previously unattainable.

Improved efficiency and accuracy of reporting by reducing processing times and manual processes.

By leveraging automation and analysis tools, such as Qlik Sense Enterprise, the DLA is able to drill down from the enterprise level to the organizational and supply chain levels for each of the services to view sales order data.
