A Case Study
Hyphn San Diego
Experience Center
Hyphn transforms the environments where people connect, work, and learn by integrating people, place, and technology. From Portland to San Diego, we partner with organizations to create workplaces that support connection, collaboration, and community.
In San Diego, our Mission Valley Experience Center is more than a place to visit, it’s a space to experience what’s possible. Here, clients and partners can see firsthand how design, technology, and culture come together to create a workplace that truly works.

THE CHALLENGE
OUR SOLUTION
Our previous office was a traditional showroom: big, segmented, and uninspiring. Over time, it no longer fit how people were working, or how we wanted to work as a team.
The pain points were clear:
The office felt too large for our team and sat mostly empty.
It was hard to feel connected; people were spread out and isolated.
Outdated technology made meeting rooms difficult to use and didn’t showcase our expertise.
Clients struggled to see themselves in the space, making it harder to close deals.
Employees weren’t motivated to come in, the space didn’t inspire or support them.
Our lease was ending, and we knew it was time for a change.
We designed a new space that was smaller, smarter, and more inviting. Every decision was made to create connection, flexibility, and energy.
How we reimagined the workplace:
The Power of Two: Every space has two or more functions, maximizing square footage and giving people choice in how they work.
Neighborhoods: Open office areas were designed as neighborhoods, helping coworkers feel connected and making the space feel active and energized.
Technology Upgrades: Easy-to-use, integrated systems make it simple to meet in a variety of settings. Rooms are no longer empty — they’re in constant use.
Meeting Reimagined: Instead of a large, underused boardroom, we created an open bar area that doubles as a large meeting space with full technology integration.
Leadership Visibility: Using data from our previous space, we placed leadership right at the front of the office. This sends a clear message: the people who come into the office are seen and accessible.
More Focus Rooms: Small private rooms make it easy for anyone in the open office to step away for calls or heads-down work.
Flexible Meeting Rooms: Many meeting rooms now have desks, so they can double as a day office.
DESIGN & CULTURE
The new Experience Center is intentionally more intimate and welcoming. It reflects our culture while encouraging collaboration and creativity.
A variety of spaces — from neighborhoods to focus rooms — keep the workplace flexible.
Fringe touches like greenery, artwork, and personal details make it feel authentic and alive.
Shared spaces maximize every square foot while building community.
The environment evolves constantly, with layouts and setups shifting based on real-time feedback from our team.
OUTCOMES & VALUE
The results of the move were immediate and impactful.
For our team:
Higher attendance and stronger engagement — people want to be here.
Easier connections across departments through neighborhoods and shared spaces.
Technology that actually supports how we work, instead of slowing us down.
For our clients:
A more relatable, inspiring environment where they can picture their own future workplace.
Faster decision-making thanks to real-world examples and live testing.
A better storytelling platform for our team to showcase Hyphn’s expertise.
