Section hair into quadrants and mist with Royal Treatment Bond & Seal to even hair porosity.
Apply Formula 1 1/8-inch away from scalp starting in the front right quadrant. Fully saturate the hair roots to ends. Continue in each quadrant, then apply this formula to the roots.
Isolate the front left quadrant and top of head above the parietal ridge. Starting at the hairline on left quadrant, take 1-inch subsections and apply Formula 2 to two diagonal back slices, beginning ½-inch from the root. Then apply Formula 2 to 1-inch horizontal weave subsections above the ear.
Beginning at the front hairline, apply Formula 2 to 1-inch horizontal weave sections, feathering the formula and working ½-inch off of the scalp. Continue to the crown parting.
Apply Formula 3 to the roots and all unfoiled hair. Process 30 minutes at room temperature.
Rinse hair until water runs clear, remove foils and shampoo with Royal Treatment Color Gloss Shampoo. Blow-dry the hair.
Apply Formula 4 from roots to ends, generously saturating the highlighted sections. Process 20 minutes at room temperature.

Begin at the back hair line in the left quadrant. Create 1-inch horizontal weave sections, apply Formula 1, feathering upward and stop ½-inch from the scalp. Secure with foil. Continue to the top of the quadrant and repeat on the other side.
Above the ear, create horizontal slices, then fine-weave 1-inch foil subsections and apply Formula 1 to the center part line at the top of the head. Within the triangular section, apply Formula 1 to fine-weave, ½-inch subsections, feathering upward and stopping ½-inch from the scalp. Process and shampoo with Royal Treatment Color Gloss Blonde Enhancing Shampoo.
In front sections above the ear, apply Formula 2 to 1-inch foil sections. Use only 3 foils on each side.
Apply Formula 3 to all remaining, unfoiled hair. Process 20 minutes at room temperature, rinse, shampoo with Royal Treatment Color Gloss Shampoo, followed by Royal Treatment Color Gloss Conditioner.

Create an ear-to-ear parting to separate back from front; create a fringe section from high point to temples and section sides from high point to tip of the ear.
Create a horizontal back section and cut the perimeter at zero elevation, following the shape of the neck to create a natural, rounded shape. Lift a center vertical section and cut at 45 degrees to create a traveling guide. Work through the rest of the back of the head, using the guide.
On each side, carve a deeply angled perimeter, leaving more length towards the front.
Create a fringe guide by slide cutting a center subsection from the bridge of the nose downward. Overdirect side sections toward the guide. Point-cut the ends as needed.
Lift the entire crown section to 90 degrees and point-cut to establish the layer guide. Overdirect the front half of the hair towards the face and follow the guide. Work on each side to the parietal ridge in this manner. On each side, create vertical layers, using the top section as a guide.

Cut How-To
Create five partings—a v-section in the crown, a fringe section from high point to temples and the sides from high point to tip of the ears. Mist hair with Royal Treatment Bond and Seal.
In the back of the head, apply Formula 1 to three back-to-back diagonal back foil slices, excluding the center of the hairline. In the center back, apply Formula 1 to alternating 1-inch weave and slice subsections, backcombing each from mid-length to scalp. Work up to the center back of the head in this manner. Repeat on each side of the center foils until work reaches the v-parting at the crown.
In the v-section, apply Formula 1 in alternate 1-inch diagonal back section, creating a herringbone pattern. Alternate left and right, weave each section and backcomb from midlengths to roots. Stop the color application ½-inch from the scalp. Complete the section with two horizontal foil sections at the peak of the triangle.
Apply Formula 1 to two back-to-back weave foil sections the front hairline, backcombing the hair from mid-lengths to root. Stop the application ¼-inch from the scalp. Continue working in this manner in 1-inch subsections throughout the fringe section. On the sides, apply Formula 1 to 1-inch, diagonal back sections, using the weave and backcomb technique. Switch to horizontal sections above the ear.
Apply Formula 2 to all unfoiled hair. Process 30 minutes at room temperature, rinse and shampoo with Royal Treatment Clarifying Shampoo and Conditioner.
Apply Formula 3 to all strands. Process 20 minutes, shampoo with CHI Royal Treatment Color Gloss Protecting Shampoo and CHI Royal Treatment Color Gloss Conditioner.

Secure the dryer attachment on the CHI LAVA AirGlam Multi Styler, then use the Round Brush attachment to direct front sections away from the face. Finish with Royal Treatment Volume Hair Spray for body and hold.
Create an ear-to-ear section across the top of the head, then create a triangular section from each temple to the high point of the head. Establish a crown guide by lifting a center vertical section and cutting at a deep angle toward the crown. Follow this guide to each side. Then lift horizontal sections and point-cut to create soft, long layers.
Create a center fringe subsection and slide-cut to establish a guide. Overdirect the entire triangle parting to the crown and slide-cut, using the previously established guide.
Slide-cut along the hairline to create soft face framing.
Direct vertical back sections forward and slide-cut to blend the perimeters. Cut the back section with no elevation to create the perimeter shape, then point-cut and texturize as needed.

Below the parting, beginning in the back left quadrant, apply Formula 1 to large weave horizontal sections. Backcomb from midlengths to roots and stop about 1-2 inches from the scalp. Work through both back quadrants in this manner. At the front hairline, apply Formula 1 to a single fine-weave section. Feather the color and stop 1/8-inch from the scalp.
Apply Formula 2 to root area.
Apply Formula 3 to ½-inch horizontal weave sections in the front quadrants, working up to the crown on each side. Process 30 minutes, rinse and shampoo with Royal Treatment Clarifying Shampoo.
Isolate the crown area as before. Apply Formula 4 to all hair beneath the parting.
Apply Formula 5 to the crown area, blending roots to ends. Process and shampoo with Royal Treatment Color Gloss Shampoo, followed by Royal Treatment Color Gloss Conditioner.

Eye-catching hair color is the star player in this collection, and Ayvazian used the top tools in the CHI color arsenal—CHI Ionic Permanent Shine and CHI Tone & Gloss—to create these hues. “CHI Ionic Permanent Shine Hair Color is formulated with permanent hair dyes and enriched with Hue Definition Technology,” explains Ayvazian. “It gives me enhanced depth and dimension, more vibrant shine and locked-in color. CHI Tone & Gloss Demi-Permanent Cream Toner contains a blend of hyaluronic acid, aloe vera and silk protein to promote intense moisture, enhance shine, extend longevity and strengthen the hair.”

Rounding out each look, Ayvazian used the CHI LAVA Tool collection, and CHI Royal Treatment care and styling products. “CHI LAVA combines volcanic lava and CHI Ceramic,” says Ayvazian. “This combination uses less heat to produce more shine.
