Manuka Blonde
Hair by Moroccanoil Celebrity Color Ambassador Matt Rez, @colorbymattrez
Matt says: “Manuka blonde is a warm golden blonde color that leans more bronde (the perfect marriage of blonde and brunette coming together seamlessly). The Manuka element of the trend is a take on Manuka honey, which is golden brown in color and sets the depth; while the golden blonde element brings pop and brightness to the look. I love using the new Moroccanoil Blonde Voyage Cream Lightener when creating this look. It gives me a soft, more refined blonde result that is then ready for a golden gloss.”

Jessica says: “My favorite blonding trend is a seamless transition of blonde with some boldness of light around the face and on the ends. The natural golden and honey blonde tones on this model are trending as well. They complement her features, especially when working with naturally darker hair. The secret to working with blonde clients is to go low and slow to maintain the hair’s integrity.”

Barri says: “I love the soft peach blonde shades I’ve seen trending. They’re an optimal blend of the popular cowboy copper and rich gold shades that have been so popular. In the salon, clients are opting for lower-maintenance color transformations and soft, muted hues, which allow them to go longer between visits and still wear their color beautifully.”

Greg says: “While ash blonde remains a popular choice, it's important to note that this hue won’t work for everyone. For example, your client’s hair may be compromised from previous chemical treatments; she may lack the confidence to wear a bright blonde; or her hair texture may be too delicate for the lightening process. Neutral blondes offer a versatile middle ground, particularly when you get the hair to a level 8 or 9 but struggle to eliminate brassiness before toning.

Moroccanoil’s new series of violet-based blonde perfecting aids, such as the Color Calypso Grey Violet series, provides solutions for such situations. Personally, I prefer using a blue-violet toner to neutralize brassiness effectively, allowing the tone to settle into a beautiful neutral shade. This summer, expect to see more neutral blonde tones, as they cater to a wide range of hair types and complement various complexions.”
The annual Moroccanoil Global Trend collection brings together artists and ideas from all over the world to create looks and techniques that will inspire stylists.

“Education crushes fear.”
— KEVIN HUGHES, VICE-PRESIDENT OF ARTISTRY
@hairbyeleven
Moroccanoil offers a 360-degree approach to education designed to propel each stylist’s professional and personal evolution. Options include the Moroccanoil Academy in New York City with a full slate of cutting, color, styling and business classes led by world-class educators; The Collective, a biennial experience bringing together stylists from around the world for three days of artistry, education and inspiration; 24/7 on-demand digital education; and an annual Global Trend collection that weaves together trends and inspiration from around the world. But what’s most unique about Moroccanoil, believes Kevin Hughes, is the fact that the education isn’t just “one and done.” Rather, educators serve as mentors for stylists, providing ongoing guidance for their growth.
“Our educators are all hand-picked,” he explains, “Not only for their talent but for their heart. They are all excited to share their knowledge because they are so accomplished in their own rights. They feel that education crushes fear, so in sharing with others, they are growing as well.”
According to Hughes, the Global Trend Team is truly international. It consists of six artists from around the world: Tatiana Dudley, @tantalizingtresses, U.S.; Barri Gibson, @barrigibsonhair, U.S.; Grethe Helen Sagmoen, @grethesagmoen, Norway; Michele Baltazar, @baltazar_michel, France; Kumi Ito, @kumiitohair, Japan; and Gonzalo Murillo, @gonzalomurillo, Argentina.
The next Moroccanoil Collective event will take place August 4-6 in Las Vegas, and Hughes is unabashedly enthusiastic about the experience. “It is so much fun, from the pool party on the first day to the dance club on the very last night!” he says. “There is so much education and you can design your own program. Our evenings offer amazing food alongside fun and inspiring shows full of ‘hair dreams.’ I can honestly say after being in this industry for 35 years, I have never experienced an event brimming with such love and excitement for what we get to do every day as hairstylists.”
The Moroccanoil Collective event brings the education and brings the fun!
This year’s Collective features a stellar lineup of Moroccanoil Global Ambassadors and artists, including Hughes, Artistic Director Cassie Siskovic, Global Creative Director Antonio Corral Calero, Jessica Scot Santo, Greg Gilmore, Gareth Williams and Maguy Compton. What’s more, the Moroccanoil Global Hair Competition returns for a second year. Five finalists will showcase their work, live, and one will take home an amazing grand prize.
“Join the journey,” invites Hughes. “Immerse yourself in the transformative education, inspiration, and a community like no other at the Collective Connect on a journey with a global collective of artists for a celebration of our craft."
“Make the decision of what you want to do, then fight for it,” says Hughes.
Hughes is also instrumental in spearheading the annual Global Trend Collection and offers some insights into how the shoot comes together and what the collection offers professionals. “Our Global Trend Team is made up of stylists from around the globe, from Asia to Argentina, New York, Paris. The team works together to bring inspiring trends from all over the world in color, cutting and styling techniques. We research the upcoming year’s trends and create a plan for education, incorporating techniques that stylists can use behind the chair to offer new options to their clientele. Once those ideas are broken down into easy-to-understand step-by-steps, we do a photo and video shoot that is featured in many editorials and used for education in the field and in the Academy.”
“At Moroccanoil, mentorship is foundational to building a meaningful legacy.”
— CASSIE SISKOVIC, ACADEMY DIRECTOR
@cassiskovic
“At Moroccanoil, values, work ethic, camaraderie, and talent are in alignment so everyone can shine.”
Siskovic joined team Moroccanoil recently, charged with empowering stylists through hands-on, skill-building education. One of her key goals, she says, is to continue evolving and elevating the Moroccanoil Academy in New York City. The Academy offers a robust roster of classes designed to serve the professional—including cut, color and business topics as well as hands-on workshops, including sessions with guest artist/influencers. “I oversee all academy classes, which consistently book to capacity—a testament to the strong foundation already in place,” she explains. “My aim is to ensure each stylist gains impactful, transformative skills while enjoying an exceptional experience as our guest. By continuously updating our content to align with relevant industry trends and stylist needs, I aspire to make the Moroccanoil Academy the premier destination for elevated education across color, cut, styling, and business development.”
As a result of her efforts, she is excited to flag several new classes that she feels will be particularly relevant to stylists. “In 2025, we’re excited to introduce our first-ever balayage class, Blonde Voyage Balayage,” she says. “Balayage is one of the most requested topics at the Academy, and this class dives deep into its mastery. Stylists will explore trending topics like Gray Coverage Balayage, Wet Balayage, and freehand lowlighting, with a focus on diverse hair types—including curly textures. Our goal is to empower every artist to bring balayage with confidence into their daily services.
“Another class I’m thrilled about is Color Correction Simplified. This course equips colorists to reconnect with foundational principles, understand the science behind Moroccanoil’s color technology, and handle complex color transformations with confidence. It’s designed to demystify the process and make corrective color work feel accessible and manageable.”
Above all, Siskovic is committed to fostering healthy, ongoing bonds with stylists who join the Moroccanoil family. “At Moroccanoil, mentorship is foundational to building a meaningful legacy, which is essential in my role as an artistic leader,” she explains. “Our industry has historically seen unhealthy dynamics in stylist-assistant relationships, often creating barriers to safe, positive learning. At Moroccanoil, we are deeply committed to fostering supportive, developmental relationships that empower each stylist to achieve their goals and reach their potential.”

Gibson loves seeing veteran stylists become reinspired by Moroccanoil education.
— BARRI GIBSON, GLOBAL TREND TEAM
@barrigibsonhair
“I want to be the water students need to grow.”
As a salon owner, Gibson likes to say Moroccanoil found her at a point in time when she was seeking something more in her professional life. “I had recently started to grow my team, she relates, “and I found that I really enjoyed training and teaching them from the ground up, being more of a mentor. When I was presented with the Moroccanoil opportunity I loved that the team was small and I wouldn’t be a little fish in a big pond—so I jumped in and rode the wave!
Once I finally got my feet wet with teaching at the Academy. I really loved it. There was this spark that happened every time a student thanked me for an impactful class session. I also fell in love with the brand as I began to use it on my clients and saw such a great difference in the overall integrity of their hair. Considering that my clientele is mostly curly and coiled textures, it is important to me that the products keep the hair as healthy as possible, and Moroccanoil exceeds my expectations.”
Very quickly, Gibson has become one of Moroccanoil’s most in-demand educators which has contributed enormously to her career satisfaction. “I never imagined receiving the kind of feedback that I do from artists that attend my classes or see me on stage,” she says. “I’ve always had a sense of humor, and I think my authenticity helps people relax and relate more quickly. Sometimes I joke because the room seems stiff and I’m nervous as well! It’s always the best way to break the ice.
“I love it when students have an ‘aha moment’ and feel confident.”
“Clients will keep you in the box that serves them best and it can be so difficult to grow. I want students to leave feeling encouraged and rejuvenated. I want to be the water or fertilizer they need to reach that next level. I love it when students have an ‘aha moment’ and feel confident. That’s all I need to keep going--literally just one person to tell me, ‘Thank you!’”
“Our classes and training programs encourage stylists to embark on a journey of self-reflection.”
— ANTONIO CORRAL CALERO, GLOBAL CREATIVE DIRECTOR
@antonioccalero
Every Moroccanoil educator and mentor agrees that skills are a critical element for success, but they also understand that growth is also an inside job.
“We have the power to inspire.”
“The introspective element plays a crucial role in building confidence and becoming a powerhouse in the beauty industry,” explains Calero. “At Moroccanoil, we believe that true success comes not only from mastering technical skills but also from understanding oneself on a deeper level. Our classes and training programs encourage stylists to embark on a journey of self-reflection, exploring not just the tasks at hand but also questioning the direction in which they want to grow and evolve. By delving into their inner selves and aligning their actions with their true desires, stylists can unlock their full potential and unleash their creativity. This introspective process not only builds confidence but also instills a sense of purpose and authenticity in everything they do.
“Moreover, at Moroccanoil, we promote a culture of kindness and equality, where every individual is embraced and supported on their unique path to success. By fostering a community of respect and inclusivity, we empower stylists to shine brightly and make a positive impact in the world of beauty.”
“We all have the same love and passion for this industry,” says Calero.
