Copper & Caramel Sun Kiss
Artist Imelda Gomez (@l_shear_hairsalon and @imeldahairadventures) used products from ITELY HAIRFASHION / AQUARELY for this artistic balayage that is rich with dimension and beautiful highs-and-lows.
She used ITELY Oh My Blonde: ICONIC BLONDE and was able to achieve a clearly defined, even color with 20 volume ITELY OXILY developer and her sweeping balayage technique. This extra performance lightener provided a unique starting point to begin this beautiful color transformation process. The result of her work is a rich tone with smooth and natural vibrancy.
Formula
To add tone and rich color, she applied ITELY Hairfashion’s AQUARELY Permanent Hair Color 30g 8CL + 30g 8T with OXILY 5 developer throughout.

TRUSS Ambassador Chrissy Lotenero (@hairbychrissydanielle) breaks down this show-stopping blonde into steps for us. She uses a variety of techniques and placements, from baby, to teasy to micro sections, and don’t miss the formula for the root shadow!
Bravo Blonding
Diagonal Micro Slices
Off both sides of the part, use diagonals to create a ribbon effect using their natural tone as your lowlight.
Brush Balayage
Finish with painting the ends using brush balayage to brighten existing blonde.
Root Shadow
Using TRUSS Semi 8.0 into Truss Perfect Blonde 10.3/10.89
Babylights
Lotenero frames the money piece using back-to-back baby lights, leaving out only what is weaved in between.
Teasy lights
Connect the middle of the money piece with one-to-two teasy lights.
Pivoting Micro Slices
On the sides, start with a horizontal micro slice (leaving a triangle drop out) and do 3 pivoting slices, connecting at the money piece; this creates depth behind it so it really pops.

Steps
1. Create a triangle in the fringe area separating both sides from the end of the eyebrows to the intersection of the previously traced cross-shaped separation.
2. On both sides, leaving about 1cm from the hairline, create a triangle with a base of about 3 fingers and the tip headed to the nape area and ending on the line of the cross-shaped division.
3. Separate a section of about 2cm with a horizontal inclination.
4. Starting from the ends, backcomb the section only twice, keeping it flattened to the base as much as possible.
5. Using a milk_shake colour board, apply formula 1 starting from the lengths and creating a V-shaped painting.
6. Proceed taking horizontal sections of about 2cm.
7. Repeat on the back side, using a milk_shake colour board. Apply formula 2 on the remaining hair, including backcombed hair.
8. After the processing time, rinse and cleanse the hair using milk_shake colour specifics products. Dry the hair and take again the previously created sections during the lightening process. Apply milk_shake colour specifics pro colour equalizer to achieve even colour.
9. Depending on the desired colour effect, choose milk_shake smoothies or the gloss colour for toning. If you choose milk_shake the gloss colour, prepare formula 3 in a color bottle to better apply it. Apply formula 3.
10. Distribute the color with your fingers without massaging. Isolate using easy stripes.
11. Repeat the sequence on both sectors. After the processing time, rinse, cleanse and condition the hair using milk_shake colour specifics products.
Formula 1

Formula 3
milk_shake smoothies 8.33 30g + milk_shake activating emulsion 45g 1:1½
The shape of this shag isn’t the first thing you notice; it’s the beautiful and subtle glimmers and glints of light that play on the fringe and that frame the face. Artist Andrew Smith (@andrewsmithhairstylist) uses milk_shake products throughout his carefully documented process.

Foilyage Steps
1. Sectioning: Middle parting, separate from top of the head to directly behind the ear on either side of the head. There should be three sections, left and right side, and back of head.
2. Begin application in the front of the head leaving minimal hair out in between the first foil and the hairline itself. Take a finer weave and lightly tease 4-6 times. The key is to be light handed in your tease and paint your lightener directly up into your tease. All foils on the sides after the first initial foil, leave 1/4” in between each next section. Begin your foil placement on a strong diagonal and continue doing so until you reach the top of the ear.
3. The first foil you place over the ear, there should be no hair in between the first foil and the hairline itself. Still taking a woven section, place your foil on a horizontal. Leave 1/4” in between the first foil and your second foil. The second foil should also be placed horizontally.
4. After applying the over the ear foils, jump back to the front hairline. You will now be applying foils by the temple. Apply on a strong diagonal and continue to shuffle the foils upwards working your way toward the part.
5. Once you reach the part you will take a woven section leaving fine amounts of hair in between the first foil and the hairline itself. For the next foils in the parting area after this, you will be creating your money piece, or face frame. Take a slice and weave from the slice. Allow the hair on the bottom of the weave fall and clip up the top weave out of the way. The hair that has fallen is put in a foil. This will now leave you with two back-to-back foils in the face frame. Next, take down the hair you clipped out of the way and lay that in a foil, now leaving you with 3 back-to-back foils in the face frame.
6. Next, take the hair completely out of its section in the mohawk and allow the hair to fall. Ask your client to “look down”. Step in front of your client and take note of if the hair is resting on the face frame foils, or if it is covering and engulfing the foils. If the hair is resting, you have completed your money piece. If the hair is engulfing or covering the face frame foils you need to at minimum add two more foils back-to-back in weaves. You will repeat this action every two foils until the hair lays or rests on the face frame foils.
7. Repeat these 6 steps on the opposite side of the head until the face frame on that side is “kissing” or touching the foils on the initial side you began on. This should create a triangle point at the front parting.
8. Move to the back of the head taking 3 weaves in the lower hairline on a horizontal. Leave 1/4” hair in between each foil.
9. Move to the front mohawk. Apply your Redken Color Gel Oils formulation of 6NN (1/2 oz) + 4NN (1/2 oz) + 4NCh (1/2 oz) + 20 Volume Pro-oxide Developer (1.5 oz). Apply to the back section and in between foils on the sides and back hairline. Allow to process for 30 minutes.
10. Shampoo out using Redken Acidic Bonding Concentrate Shampoo and Conditioner. Rough dry the hair to get out as much moisture as possible.
11. Apply to zones 2 and 3 Redken Shades EQ Gloss 05CB (1oz) + 06WG (1 oz) + 06NB (1/2 oz) + Shades EQ Processing Solution (2.5 oz). Allow to process for 20 minutes.
