HOW TO create
Everything in Between
With hundreds of Vogue covers and thousands more editorial shoots and fashion shows to his credit, Oribe Global Ambassador James Pecis has some pretty specific ideas about how styling products should perform. So when the product development team at Oribe invited him to weigh in on a new styler, he jumped at the chance. The result is Oribe Très Set Structure Spray, a unique new formula that gives stylists and clients the power to create everything from retro-inspired looks to on-trend textures in a completely modern way.
“With Très Set as my foundation styling product, I can continually change the look and layer other products as needed without flaking or going flat.”
Q: What is Très Set and how does it work?
ORIBE Très Set Structure Spray Q&A with Oribe Global Ambassador and Editorial Stylist James Pecis
The best way to get a feeling for how Très Set Structure Spray works is to see James in action on set. To create long, loose waves, for example, he sections damp hair and applies the spray on mids to ends to protect the hair from heat before creating a voluminous blow-out. Once the hair is dry (and incredibly shiny), he grabs his curling iron and creates long, vertical waves. “Using Très Set for prep work makes me confident these waves will last into the night,” he says. Once the waves cool, he rakes through the hair with his fingers to loosen the shape. Then, he lightly backcombs the crown, gathers the top half, twists the tail and secures for a dressy half-up, half down style.

Waves,
“For years, I’ve been searching for a product to create long-lasting styles on set that won’t flake, but I haven’t been able to find anything that worked once multiple layers were applied,” says James. “With Très Set as my foundation styling product, I can continually change the look and layer other products as needed without flaking or going flat. Memory and volume will stay throughout the day.”
When it comes to styling and finishing bob haircuts, Très Set Structure Spray is James’ one-and-done go-to. He applies it to damp hair, section by section, and combs it through for a sleek, wet look with lots of hold. He can also blow dry the hair and Très Set will help give the hair loads of body. “The densifying blend in the product gives even the finest hair massive volume,” says James. Once the hair is dry, he sets the hair into barely-there bends using a flat iron for an edgy result.
One Bob, Three Ways
“The densifying blend in Très Set Structure Spray gives even the finest hair massive volume.”
“Traditionally, setting lotions or sprays were used to create structured curl sets. The product shaped the hair, and the heat from hot rollers or irons ‘set’ the hair,” explains James. “The sprays were known for strong hold, but they would often flake and did not offer adaptability; once a style was set, it could not be transformed. Très Set Structure Spray offers a modern take on a classic setting spray. It makes it easy to achieve a variety of looks, from every day, classic blowouts to special-occasion salon sets.”

A: Très Set is Oribe’s answer to a modern-day setting spray. Très Set’s unique technology starts out as a mist and then becomes a mousse after you spray it onto the hair. It is designed to be applied before blow drying, curling or flat ironing. With this modern formula, you get soft and touchable hair with all-day memory and no flaking.
A: Both! I apply to damp hair before my blowouts and to dry hair when I’m doing iron styling and upstyles. The product is activated by heat, so it’s important to follow up with a blow dryer and hot tools.
A: Yes, up to 450 degrees.
A: Section the hair, spray it on each section from root to tips and comb it through with a wide tooth comb. Because it transitions from spray to mousse, you can easily see where you’ve sprayed it onto the hair. Then style the hair with heat, which activates the product and provides long-lasting hold and style memory.
A: There are three key ingredients worth noting. A Densifying Polymer Blend gives the hair all day memory, structure and hold, while adding volume and body. Hydrolyzed Pea Protein, which is rich in amino acids, locks in hydration while smoothing the cuticle to help prevent dryness and damage caused by heat styling. Finally, Kelp and Irish Moss Extracts nourish and hydrate the hair and smooth the cuticle for soft, shiny hair.
A: You can mix or layer additional styling products with this spray, but James likes to use Très Set Structure Spray as a single, do-it-all styler because it delivers multiple benefits, like hold, memory, shine and volume. You can prep hair with other Oribe products like Foundation Mist or Supershine Moisturizing Cream to ensure an even base for styling.
A: Yes, the cap, aluminum can and paper outer carton are recyclable. All Oribe paper-based packaging is made from materials certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The FSC works internationally to reduce environmental impact, promote the long-term vitality of forests, and uphold the rights of workers and indigenous peoples.
