Meet Oribe's
brand-new
solution
Everyone has these clients. The ones with the gradually disappearing hairlines, peek-a-boo scalps and too-skinny ponytails. Fine, thinning hair can affect anyone and everyone, and many of these clients sit in your chair hoping you can help. And now you can! The new Serene Scalp Densifying Collection from Oribe is helping clients to experience noticeably fuller and thicker looking hair and the joy that goes along with it. It’s a real “boost” for your business and for your clients’ hair.
The data tells the story. The term “thinning hair” generates more than 1 million monthly online searches and has more than 370 million TikTok views. And IRL, Adam Livermore, Oribe Global Artist, @adam_livermore, is observing more thinning hair issues among his clients than ever before. “I believe Covid caused a lot of people to experience telogen effluvium, (which is a temporary form of hair loss caused by a disruption in the hair growth cycle),” he notes. “Many of my clients have experienced chronic stress for various reasons over the last five to eight years and are especially stressed right now.”

The new Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Collection offers stylists and their clients an effective solution for thinning hair concerns.
With the successful launch of the Oribe Serene Scalp Anti-Dandruff collection in 2018, followed by Oribe Serene Scalp Oil Control Collection in 2023, Oribe has become known as a hair care company that truly “gets” the importance of scalp health and a healthy scalp environment. With the addition of the new Densifying collection, pros have even more scalp solutions than ever before.
Formulated in collaboration with double-board certified trichologist Penny James, the three-product regimen includes the Densifying Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment Spray, designed to work together to promote fuller, thicker-looking hair.
Says James, “When developing the collection, we had a clear mission in mind: to help those with thinning, fine or limp hair achieve thicker, fuller, denser-looking strands. I’m so proud of the final collection and the ingredients that we chose.”

Penny James is a hair loss expert—she’s a double board-certified trichologist, IAT, OIT, and owner of Penny James Salon Trichology Center in NYC. She identifies additional common causes for hair loss across genders and age ranges, including:
Pregnancy: During pregnancy 98 percent of hair is in the anagen or growth phase due to an increase of estrogen, James explains. Once a client transitions to the postpartum stage, the hair begins to transition to the telogen or resting/falling out stage. Over a six-week period, only 76 percent of hair is in the growth phase and remains low for about three months, until the body’s hormones regulate again. Thus the client experiences a strong sense of having less hair.
Menopause: Due to hormones affiliated with menopause, the hair follicles can shrink, resulting in finer or thinner hair. The growth rate of hair can also shorten during this time, meaning hair may grow more slowly, and hair fall can occur more rapidly.
Poor diet and/or vitamin deficiencies: Lack of essential nutrients can also lead to thinning hair.
Lifestyle and prolonged stress: These conditions can actually age hair follicles causing hair production to slow.
Stress is a huge factor in hair loss, but that’s not all.
WHAT SHOULD
YOU LOOK FOR?
Full, healthy hair is #goals for most clients, especially if they’re experiencing hair thinning or loss.
As a stylist, you have the very best vantage point for detecting a hair thinning issue. James recommends looking for the following patterns and issues:
• Widening part.
• Receding hairline; a common sign of male pattern baldness.
• More hair on the pillow than usual in the morning.
• More loose hair than usual in a client’s brush or comb.
• Bald patches on the scalp, beard, or eyebrows.
• Visible scalp skin showing through the hair.
Also, it’s important to understand what natural hair loss looks like. “Most people can lose between 50 to 100 hair strands per day,” says James. “This happens naturally and is necessary at the end of the resting stage; it marks the beginning of a new hair cycle.”
Livermore believes it’s important to be proactive about hair loss, so he dives right in. “If I see loss, I ask my client, ‘Are you concerned about hair loss at all?’ Some people know they're losing density, and they're not bothered. But the vast majority don't want to lose their hair, and respond to that question with either, Since you mentioned it, yes, I've noticed some thinning. What can we do about it?’ or perhaps they say, ‘Why do you ask, does it look like it's thinning?’
“Most people don't even notice a change until they're at close to 50 percent loss, so sometimes I see it before they do. I'm always honest, and while they might be a bit crestfallen to hear that their hairstylist has noticed some early signs of thinning, ultimately, they're always grateful for the chance to get ahead of it with solutions.”
WHAT SHOULD YOU SAY?
One of the solutions that Livermore and James now turn to is the new Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Collection. It’s a system consisting of Densifying Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment Spray, and feedback from consumers is impressive:
Menopausal hormonal activity is another cause of thinning hair.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
ORIBE SERENE SCALP DENSIFYING COLLECTION IS THE SOLUTION
After one month of consistent application of the Densifying Treatment Spray, 85 percent of users saw an improvement in the appearance of their hair.
After two months, 86 percent said their thinning hair looked thicker.
After three months, more than eight in ten consumers said their hair felt significantly fuller.*
*Based on a 90-day consumer panel test of 100 users with thinning hair concerns.
“The feedback from clients on the Serene Scalp Densifying Treatment Spray has been spectacular! It contains a polymer that plumps hair instantly on contact, and within two weeks or so, people notice less shedding.
We can't keep it on our shelves.”
Livermore advises clients to shampoo with the Densifying Shampoo and Conditioner at least three times a week. “Healthy hair really does start at the scalp,” he notes. “Piling dry shampoo into the hair for a week or more is not good for the scalp; it can build up and cause scalp issues. We need to cleanse and stimulate our scalp if we want to promote density and thickness. And if you're using Densifying Shampoo and Conditioner with actives like Capixyl™, Redensyl™, and Pea Sprout Extract, the more often the scalp is exposed to them, the better your results will be.
“After shampooing, the client should apply the Densifying Treatment Spray when the hair is wet, right out of the shower. That’s because wet hair clumps together and exposes the scalp and that's where you want that spray to land.”
Team Oribe worked with James to create the unique Densifying formulas, and the result is a trio of unique focus ingredients that offer the efficacy of clinical products:
Capixyl™: Featuring a biomimetic peptide combined with red clover extract, this ingredient delivers targeted care to fortify the scalp and promote fuller, thicker, healthier looking hair. It also helps to balance and nourish the scalp, creating an optimal environment for healthy hair growth.
Redensyl™: Found in the Densifying Shampoo and Conditioner, this biotechnology active ingredient resulted from a patented green chemistry process that enhances hair density, thickness and strength from the root, while helping to reduce shedding. It increases fullness and body, giving hair a boost of vitality and rejuvenation.
Pea Sprout Extract: Phytonutrients found in pea sprout stimulate, nourish, and support scalp and hair follicles to help reduce hair fall. It replenishes fragile and brittle thinning hair and increases density for fuller, thicker strands.
“This particular combination of Capixyl, Redensyl, and Pea Sprout Extract is totally unique to Oribe,” says Livermore. “In my experience, no other brands are using this combination. It’s completely safe to use, and it works.”
CLINICAL INGREDIENTS + LUXURY FORMULATIONS
Every stylist is a skeptic when it comes to product claims and Livermore is no exception. That’s why he decided to try the Densifying Collection on his own hair. “I'm a great case study,” he explains. “I experienced male pattern balding myself; I was mostly bald on top. I've had two rounds of hair transplants. The first was to restore my hairline in 2017, which was all I needed at the time. But I didn't know I needed to start topical and medical interventions upon having the surgery so the balding wouldn’t progress! By 2022 the balding had progressed behind my newly restored hairline and I needed another procedure to fill up that newly bald area. At that time I started Minoxidil, but that wasn't enough to stabilize the loss, so in 2023 I started oral Finasteride as well, and that still didn't fully stabilize it. I was shedding a lot. I've been using the Densifying Shampoo and Conditioner, and the Densifying Treatment Spray since the first lab samples were available for testing, and I started washing my hair more often at the suggestion of Penny James—three times a week, compared to every 7-10 days previously. Within a month I noticed significantly less shedding, and density beginning to build. Since then, I haven't needed to take any further interventions. My hair is thick and full again, and I've even been able to grow it past shoulder length and it feels great! So I consider the Densifying shampoo and conditioner, and Densifying Treatment Spray to be crucial elements of my regimen for promoting thicker, fuller, denser looking hair.”
