Education
& Visualization
Not only will clients want your advice in stopping the hair loss, slowing it down or disguising its impact, they’ll also want to know why this is happening to them. Time for some science.
In partnership with
According to the most recent HAIR+ Research Study, 75% of male clients and 81% of female clients are concerned about their current or future potential hair loss. For clients already noticing that their hair is thinning, you may be the first person in which they confide. And this is where you and Viviscal PRO come in.
“I understand how psychologically debilitating hair loss or thinning hair can be, so I know how clients feel who are trying to figure out why it’s happening and how to fix it,” says Ashleigh Marie Rancilio @ashleighmariecolor, a color and extension specialist who takes her styling talents on the road, traveling between salons in her native Los Angeles, to New York, to her current home in Montreal. “Some 30 million women a year experience hair loss and the causes can range from hormonal changes, to side effects of medications, heredity, stress and diet deficiencies.”
Familiar with Viviscal as a retail product sold in
her different salon homes, she had never tried it
herself until she experienced hormonal fluctuations
following a lost pregnancy that resulted in hair loss.
“All my eyelashes fell out, my hair went all out of
whack, and I had hair coming out around the front
hairline,” Ashleigh Marie explains. “I didn’t want to
just fill it in with extensions so chopped my hair
into a long bob and decided to start over.”
After researching options, she began taking Viviscal PRO and, she says, within three months, she noticed her ponytail was thicker and hair quality was improved. “I follow a Paleo diet (a dietary plan that typically includes lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds — foods that in the past could be obtained by hunting and gathering) and I eat a pretty stable diet of whole foods so I also wanted a whole food approach to a supplement because I really care about the ingredients. The Viviscal Pro formula is based off an Inuit diet, which is very high in omega-3 fatty acids from marine protein sources like shark cartilage and oyster powder. This tied into what I believe our bodies need and what works for me.”
Another stylist user and believer, Dana Miller @mermaidhairbydana, is the owner of Studio Fringe in Tulsa, OK, where she excels at creating total transformations on her extension clients. Miller sought out a solution to her own hair health issues and through her research, found Viviscal PRO. She recommends it to her clients—all of them. “I offer it to every single guest. I call it preventative maintenance and a healthy choice to add into their daily routine. I started taking it in 2016 because I wasn’t happy with my hair and it didn’t seem to be growing and I have not stopped taking it since. And because I’ve had such a good experience, my passion for the product isn’t a pitch—it’s me sharing with my client something that has worked for me.”

SOLUTION
While genetics is a primary driver for men experiencing hair loss (and about 20 % of women), aging is a secondary factor especially for women. In fact studies show women’s hair density and diameter begins changing in our mid 30’s which is about the time perimenopause starts. By the time a woman reaches age 50 many will lose as much as 50% of their hair density.
Viviscal PRO is a non-surgical answer for hair growth in men and women, a 100% drug-free and hair supplement formula. With just two daily tablets, Viviscal PRO is clinically proven to promote existing hair growth and reduce hair shedding in 3-6 months.

Myth oR Truth
Is there a cure for baldness?
NO—While there is no"miracle cure," there are certainly many treatments like government-approved drugs, laser therapy procedures, or hair transplants that can help regain hair.
YES—Genetic male and female hair loss gets more common as we age. However, alopecia areata is common in childern and young adults and could result in complete baldness at an early age.
Is balding linked to old age?
If you pluck one gray hair will two actually grow back?
Will over-shampooing make you lose hair?
NO—The good news is pulling out gray hairs won't make more grow back. The bad news is most people get gray hair as they age.
NO—Many people may notice they shed daily after they shampoo or brush their hair. Follicles cycle on and off, and repeat that process over the course of their life span. Each day around 50-100 hairs are shed and these hair follicles are replaced by other hair follicles entering the growth phase.

Q: What are some hair issues you might see in your clients that would prompt
you to start talking about a solution?
Ashleigh Marie: I have clients in their 40s or 50s and hair thinning can be a natural result of aging and decline in testosterone. I’ll ask them, first, if they have changed anything in their routine or in their diet by saying, ‘Your hair seems a little different, are there any changes I should know about?’ That opens the door for them to say, yes, I’m going through menopause, I’m going to talk to my doctor about some hormonal therapy. Or
they might say they feel like they’re seeing more shedding or even thin patches. I have also had clients who had bad bleach and tones or bad extensions that resulted in compromised hair and they will do whatever it takes to get their hair back.
Dana: I live in a very ‘blonde’ city. In Tulsa, everyone wants to be super light and
platinum, so I see a lot of over-processed, chemically damaged hair. This can result
in very fragile, fine hair. I see many clients with thinning around the face and the
front of the hairline, the areas where heat might be directed (from hot tools or
dryers) and where hair is ‘worked’ the most.
Q: How do you start the conversation around thinning hair? Are there questions
you ask, language you use?
Dana: As part of my consultation, which is usually about 45 minutes long and very comprehensive, I ask them to tell me about their diet, about how much water they are drinking, about any medications, or product they’re using, their stress level and fitness routine. Everything we put inside our bodies is reflected in our hair. By asking these lifestyle questions in a consultation, it’s a natural follow up to ask, ‘Are you happy with your hair, with its density or fullness? Do you have any concerns?’
Ashleigh Marie: It’s a very emotional, sensitive topic; it’s one thing for the client to know there’s a problem but it’s very hard on them when someone else notices. They may not have completely accepted that there’s an issue until it’s pointed out. I know I was very sensitive about it, especially as it was related to a pregnancy loss. Asking general questions around their satisfaction with their hair can help lead you into specifically talking about any areas of concern they might be seeing.
Q: After sharing your own story of using Viviscal PRO, how do you then make the recommendation to your client?
Ashleigh Marie: My Instagram has opened a great place to introduce the product and for clients to talk to me because I put out a lot of information about nutrition and health, and how it relates to hair. They will Direct Message me to ask questions and I’ve found it’s a good way to talk about difficult subjects.
For my extension clients, I recommend they take Viviscal PRO to keep their hair from shedding which helps their extensions last longer. Everyone wants that. I recommend it even to people who aren’t experiencing any loss or thinning so they can achieve thicker hair.
Dana: I’ve educated myself on the product, visiting the Viviscal site to read and reread information, so that I feel confident and clear in my explanations. I don’t have any special training, I’m just so passionate about it and that really communicates itself to my clients. I break it down for them, talk about the ingredients and how if they are taking Biotin or some other supplements, that Viviscal PRO will cover those for them and they don’t need to take those additional supplements.
If anyone is feeling unsure about my recommendation, I suggest they take a picture of the product, so they remember it and then they can call their doctor and ask questions.
Q: How has Viviscal PRO helped you in your business and your life?
Dana: I can show my extension clients how much their hair is growing as they’re wearing the extensions, because of taking Viviscal PRO. The ‘before and after’s speak for themselves and have helped me build my clientele. For myself, I took out my own extensions and no one noticed—because my hair had grown so much!
I’m also an authorized retailer and just placed a huge order.
Ashleigh Marie: I’ve been engaging in a lot of blogs and microblogging
to generate sales from affiliate programs like Viviscal’s. My clients know
that that the way to support me is to support the things I have been supporting
and I have been talking for over a year about Viviscal PRO so they know it’s a genuine recommendation. I have everyone on it—my husband, my Mom, my whole family.
My clients know that they’re my family, too, and that I would never talk about something I didn’t believe in. I’m a lifer.
