Cherrie MacInnes

I wholeheartedly believe Cherrie is most deserving of this nomination. the classroom.
Mrs. MacInnes, my third-grade teacher, led us through making the lobster Maine’s official state crustacean, a memorable learning experience. We also had a call with Michelle Obama and visited the White House for the law’s signing. She taught us kindness, respect, and was always there for us. Her impact on our community was profound and positive.
My mom has transformed education in Maine. She co-authored a book with her students, developed a video chatting curriculum to teach about Maine, and helped create and enact a law. Despite major surgeries and fighting cancer, she never slows down and continuously seeks to expand her students' horizons. She is a dedicated educator and lifelong Red Sox fan.
Cherrie was my third-grade teacher, offering many once-in-a-lifetime experiences. We had pen-pals worldwide, weekly Skype chats with a class in Arizona, and calls with Barbara Bush and former Governor Paul LePage's wife, Ann. Cherrie changed my life at a young age. Even years later, she stayed connected, reaching out after we lost our dad.
