Ruins of Presidents Park
Following the closure of Presidents Park in 2010, the main attraction — 42 sculpted heads of former US presidents — had to find a new home. Howard Hankins, who helped construct the original park, volunteered to move the busts (ranging in size from 17,000-22,000 pounds each!) back to his private family farm. Visitors must book a tour to visit the heads’ new home in Williamsburg, Virginia, but it’s well worth it to see this eerily beautiful spectacle in person.

“It’s really showing the past through the work we do today.”
- Bill Radford, Artist Member
Qualla Arts & Crafts Mutual is an artists’ cooperative of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. It’s known as the oldest Native American co-op in the country, representing the handcrafted work of more than 250 artisans. In 1946, the gallery-like storefront opened its doors in an effort to keep the traditions and artwork of the Cherokee alive for generations to come.

“It’s just like cooking. If you add a little extra something to your chocolate chip cookies, they’re going to taste different, but they’re still going to be awesome.”
- Josh Hurst, Owner
Based in the heart of Music City, visitors to this classroom-style workshop can build a one-of-a-kind guitar from scratch and take it home the same day. Owner Josh Hurst established his business in 2012, leveraging his expertise working for major guitar manufacturers to open Nashville’s own Guitar Build Workshop.

“If you can drink the famous (Hot Springs, AR) water, you might as well make beer out of it.”
- Rose Schweikhart, Owner
Superior Bathhouse Brewery sits on Bathhouse Row in Hot Springs National Park and is the only brewery in the world to craft beer using a not-so-secret-ingredient — thermal spring water. The building initially operated as a bathhouse until 1983. Then, after 30 years of vacancy, the new owner, Rose Schweikhart, reimagined the space and turned it into a full-fledged brewery in 2013. It’s quite literally the only place in the world where you can get hot springs “on tap.”
