Driverless routes
Singapore’s AV deployments remain limited, but they now cover a small set of defined routes across residential, tourism and industrial settings. Each serves a different purpose, from first-mile transport to logistics. The Business Times takes a closer look at five selected deployments.
JOO KOON AND BENOI
In industrial areas, including Joo Koon and Benoi, AVs are being tested for logistics use, rather than passenger transport. They run along fixed routes in industrial estates, moving goods between warehouses with FairPrice among the operators testing such deployments. This is where some of the earliest gains in efficiency and cost cutting are likely to show, particularly in reducing the need for drivers on routine trips.
