Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam's southern metropolis with a population of over 14 million, is the country's largest economic and financial centre, contributing about a fourth of Vietnam's gross domestic product following its merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau in July, 2025 into a megacity.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau is home to the strategically important Vung Tau Port, a key gateway for international trade that supports the region's oil, manufacturing, and logistics industries.
Binh Duong is Vietnam's largest manufacturing hub with major industrial parks such as the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks developed by a joint venture between Sembcorp and Becamex. It is home to factories of multinationals like Procter & Gamble, LEGO and Pandora.
Dong Nai is a key southern manufacturing hub, home to Long Thanh International Airport, which is slated for commercial operations from 2026 and to be developed as the largest airport in Vietnam.
