On 19 March 2022, the UFC will finally stage its 25th event in the UK after a three-year absence.
The 24 previous events have been spread across 8 cities and 11 venues.
This will be the 12th UFC event to be staged in London and the 10th at the O2 Arena.
Fight Night will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Alexander Volkov and Tom Aspinall.
Tale of the tape
Both fighters employ an orthodox stance. Volkov has superior height and reach, and has typically carried more weight than Aspinall.
While Aspinall has a better record, Volkov has significantly more experience with more than three times as many fights under his belt.
This will only be Aspinall’s 5th UFC fight and his first in front of a crowd, He has won all of his 4 fights to date, 3 of which have earned him the Performance of the Night award.
Volkov will be making his 12th UFC appearance and is no stranger to the UK. He won in Belfast in 2016 and at the O2 in 2018, with the latter the Performance of the Night.
9 of Aspinall’s 11 career MMA wins so far have been knockouts, with the other 2 ending in a submission.
This is a much higher share than Volkov, who has won 9 fights based on the judges’ decision - including 4 of his last 8.

Location of strikes
We can also compare Aspinall’s 4 UFC fights to date with Volkov’s 4 most recent.
Aspinall has been far likelier to target his opponent’s head, which could work well against Volkov who has absorbed a larger share of head strikes.
Volkov’s leg attacks could give him an edge, as this is an area where Aspinall has been less effective.
Aspinall has been far less reliant on strikes from distance in his short UFC career so far, but Volkov has barely been troubled up close over his last 4 bouts.
