What's New
Unit Walkthrough
Own it! has helped many learners discover their path towards an exciting future. Teachers around the world told us what they love about the course, and how this second edition can best meet their evolving needs. As a result, we've maintained the pedagogical focus on learning grammar and vocabulary and practising the four key skills, but have enhanced the following features to provide even more support to teachers and learners.

What's new?
Own it! is a video-rich course with five videos in every unit.There are four new video projects across the course withengaging global topics to facilitate student collaboration,build their competency skills and empower students totake ownership of their learning.

To underpin learning, grammar vlog videos are embedded in the Language in Action pages with complete grammarreference tables and corresponding follow-up activitiesto help students recognise and understand the grammar point.

There's a stronger focus on Useful Language for each unit's text type to give students specific support with their writing and speaking. Differentiated writing and speaking frames at two different levels in the Teacher's Resource Bank support students to structure their speech or text and assist with planning.

Key Components
Every unit takes students on a journey from 'starting it' to 'owning it'. Students are gradually introduced to the topic and target language through a variety of scaffolded activities that build their confidence and encourage independent learning. Vibrant videos, readings and listening texts show language in context, allowing students to respond personally and work collaboratively.

Level 1, Unit 8
Start it! begins the unit with a striking image and documentary video. The questions provoke curiosity, activate prior knowledge and get students thinking critically.
Learning outcomes show unit aims at a glance.
Digital features available with Presentation Plus offer warm-up questions on the unit opener related to the video. These help engage the whole class.
Explore it! is a guided activity to help students develop research skills and extend their learning beyond English.
Voice it! is a thought-provoking speaking activity which asks students to give their personal response to a reading or listening test, encouraging critical thinking.
Language in action videos show teenagers using the target language in context, in a teen-friendly vlog-style, plus an interactive grammar presentation.
Get it right! activities help students avoid common errors as identified by the Cambridge Learner Corpus.
Learn to learn introduces students to vital learning strategies and techniques, which will help them become more independent learners.
Use it! gets students practising and producing the target language, often in a personalised way. The activity builds student confidence by giving them the opportunity to prepare what they want to say before speaking.
In every unit, there's a fun vlog-style video to teach students the meaning, form and use of the Everyday English from the conversation on the speaking page.
Useful language boxes appear throughout the unit, highlighting genre-specific target language.
The Plan, Write and Check and Plan, Speak and Check scaffolded approach of the writing and speaking pages builds students' confidence by giving them time to prepare before they write and speak.
The Check stage encourages self-assessment, a key step towards learner independence.
The Project pages in even-numbered units encourage students to 'own' the language and topic knowledge they have gained throughout the unit in a collaborative project.
In the odd-numbered units, there are Around the world pages, which introduce students to different people and cultures to encourage critical thinking and promote cross-cultural awareness.
The Plan guide helps students work though the project without the need for constant supervision by the teacher. This promotes peer-learning and student autonomy.
A prominent CLIL feature provides a more meaningful and engaging learning experience where students can connect their use of language to other areas of the curriculum.
The Learn to learn pages focus on developing core areas from the Cambridge Life Competencies Framework. Students have the opportunity to 'own' their learning by putting the new skill into practice.
Review language in these useful review pages at the end of each unit, which include a self-assessment task. This encourages students' self-awareness.
A brand-new ‘Spin the Wheel’ classroom game appears on the Review pages on Presentation Plus to motivate learners and consolidate vocabulary and grammar practice.

It offers access to Presentation Plus, Teacher Resources (including audio and video), Test & Train Mini (at A2 and B1 levels only),Personalised Learning (Reading and Listening practice, as well as Teacher and Student Resources), Test Generator and Kahoots.
The Workbook offers further practice of the language covered in the main Student's Book unit, and is perfect for homework. It includes practice of vocabulary and grammar, as well as reading, writing and listening skills.
