Ready, Steady, Grow! is for pre-primary children aged 3 to 6. During these ages, children are building the confidence they need for starting school. In the books, the characters grow and develop, just like the children in your class!

Lesson 8:
This unit is ‘Our feelings’. In Lesson 1, the objective is for children to become familiar with the topic of feelings. The School Readiness focus of this lesson is “Know that what I do and say can make others happy or unhappy.” In this lesson, Daniel knows he’s made Sofia happy by painting a nice portrait of her!
Every lesson includes the lesson focus at a glance at the bottom of the page. Vocabulary and Language Presentation lessons include the target language.
Fast finishers can draw a picture in the blank white space.
Lesson 2 practises the new vocabulary for the unit with a sticker activity. There is a sticker for every vocabulary item in the back of the Pupil’s Book. Some of the stickers have a correct position on the page. Children can decide where to put the other stickers themselves.
Fast finishers can colour in the ball.
Each language presentation lesson has a video with a fun language chant, presented by Hug and Hummy. Children listen and tap, or clap, to the beat as they say the examples. Hummy picks up the pace with a faster version.
Lesson 3 presents and practises the language. Each unit has a new structure for children to learn. Children practise the structure together with the vocabulary, building on Lessons 1 and 2.
Sofia and Daniel are the main characters in the stories, often joined by family and friends. Hug and Hummy have their own adventures in the background. Every story has a story video and an audio version.
This lesson provides even more opportunities to explore and enjoy the story. Here you’ll explain to children that they should look at the picture from the story and think about how each character is feeling. You can then ask children to circle the corresponding icon and to say what the emotion is.
This lesson is the cross-curricular (CLIL) lesson. In each of these lessons, children practise the English in this unit while exploring another subject of the curriculum. Point to each picture and ask children to say the emotion (sad, tired, happy). Then ask them to match the pictures to the emotions.
This lesson is the review lesson. In these lessons you will review the vocabulary and language. Ask children to look at the pictures and say the emotions in each picture (sad, excited, tired, happy, OK, angry). Take some time to discuss why the child might be feeling those emotions in each picture. You can then ask children to circle the pictures that showhow they feel right now.
The wellbeing lesson encourages children to think about the wellbeing focus of the unit and do well in their personal development and learning. There is often a space for children to draw a situation related to the wellbeing focus. In this lesson you ask children to think about something they feel they are doing well and to draw themselves doing it, or a picture of how they feel when they do well at something.

The Pupil’s Book with Digital Pack is a core component of the course featuring stories and a variety of activities such as videos, songs and games!
There are nine units and a Welcome Unit per level, with eight lessons per unit, as well as stickers in the back of the book.
