Activities throughout the course align with the Cambridge Life Competencies Framework, to help young learners develop the skills they need for the future. They’ll be challenged to think creatively and critically, understand and analyse links between ideas. To encourage their curious minds, there’s a ‘Big Question’ at the start of every unit for them to explore.
Creative and critical thinking
This project helps learners develop creative thinking skills by writing an original story.
Creative thinking
This activity helps learners understand and analyse links between ideas, by sorting and classifying countries according to key features.
Critical thinking
The Big Question is a new feature that gives a gradual introduction to enquiry-based learning. Each Big Question is directly related to the unit topic and is explored throughout the unit, with further ideas for exploitation available in the Teacher’s Book.
Big Question
Updated CLIL content is linked to topics students will be studying in their first language. This way, students learn to apply English to their lives outside the language classroom. Documentary-style videos introduce vocabulary from across subjects, providing context for the activities. The activities lead on to projects, which can be completed in class or set as homework.
Think and learn
The video introduces the topic that the following activities explore.
Documentary-style video
The Think and learn spread culminates in this project, which your learners could do in class or at home.
Project
Teachers and learners can super charge their classrooms and home learning. Extensive digital support is all in one place, on Cambridge One. Presentation Plus allows you to display the Student’s Book, Workbook and videos to your class, for an interactive experience. With Practice Extra, students can take their exploration further with more activities and games, tailored to the language they’re learning.

Values are introduced in the story and ‘storytime’ spreads and supported by extension activities in the Teacher’s Book. Thinking about values and applying them when interacting with others is a key life competency and helps build socially responsible individuals.
Universal values
These pages give practice of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, while the ‘storytime’ feature offers brand new extended reading texts in alternate units.
Extensive skills pages
CLIL projects integrate content and language, with students learning about other curriculum subjects in English, so that their English is expansive. The CLIL syllabus has been specially designed to cover similar topics to those that students will be encountering in their first language at the same stage.
Think and learn CLIL projects
Brand new documentary-style videos present the topic and vocabulary of the CLIL pages.

Each ‘think and learn’ spread culminates in a project that can be carried out in class or set as homework.
