1 in 7 people are neurodivergent yet when we consider diversity and inclusion initiatives, neurodiversity is rarely a central feature. However, organisations are beginning to embrace a move towards creating neuro inclusive practices, and this event will explore this much needed tide of change through sharing insights, example solutions in the market, and an interactive panel discussion.

Since joining Capita in September 2020 James has led the transformation of our apprenticeship delivery across a range of public and private sector clients. In January 2022 James stepped up to lead Capita’s new Adult Education business unit providing education and skills programmes from level 1 to level 6 and supporting over 11,000 learners on programmes today.
James is passionate about the role that education, and in particular apprenticeships, plays in society and in supporting social mobility.
Professor Amanda Kirby
Founder and CEO of
Do-IT Solutions
Professor Amanda Kirby has an international reputation and recognised authority in the field of Neurodiversity. Founder and CEO of Do-It Solutions, a tech for a good company, delivering innovative web neurodiversity tools for education and employment, accredited training courses at all levels and for different organisations globally, and consultancy services to guide organisations to become neuroinclusive. She is also the chair of the ADHD Foundation and works closely with many other charities working in this area including Dyspraxia Foundation, and several Autism charities.
She has written 9 books and more than 100 research papers in the field and her latest book was published in 2021:'Neurodiversity at Work, Drive Innovation, Performance and Productivity with a Neurodiverse Workforce'.
This session will consider the terms we are using including describing what neurodiversity is and what it is not.

Professor Almuth McDowall
Professor of Organisational Psychology at Birkbeck University of London
Almuth leads her department at Birbeck University of London and is part of her school’s executive team. Her research has been funded by the Ministry of Defence, the College of Policing, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and the Home Office, as well as a range of other funders. Almuth has won awards for her research and her commitment to furthering the practice of psychology in the workplace in the UK.
Neal works with a wide range of NHS Trusts in supporting their executive and non-executive appointments. He is passionate about promoting diversity, is a committee member of the Capita Ability Network. Outside of work Neal is Ambassador for the mental health charity ADHD.

Alex has 18 years’ experience within education, principally within the state secondary sector. Principal expertise is within senior leadership, including developing SEND & Safeguarding processes in metroplex institutions.
Alex was diagnosed with Dyslexia at school and has identified ADD behaviours throughout her life, along with learning to live with Anxiety and Trauma through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She’s learnt to embrace these challenges and keeps focused on using them to assist her personal development, hyper-focused organisation skills and emotional intelligence.
