Our vision for sustainability is to adopt business strategies and activities that meet the needs of Carter Jonas while protecting, sustaining, and enhancing human and natural resources now and for future generations. Since 1855 our people have worked with the natural environment to create more sustainable outcomes for the property and landowners that we have served and within the communities that we work. There are three key elements through which we manage our commitments to sustainability:
Harwell campus, Oxford
Harwell Campus is a leading science, innovation, technology, and business campus, located just south of Oxford. The Campus boasts 700 acres and contains over 200 organisations, employing 6,000 people across more than 60 nationalities.
We have been retained for over 25 years to act as planning consultant and deal with all development matters on behalf of the Harwell Campus Partnership, a public/private sector partnership between the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA), the
Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Brookfield.
Our most recent success has been to work with the Local Planning Authority to secure delivery of The Vaccines Manufacturing and Innovation Centre (VMIC), the UK’s first dedicated Vaccines Manufacturing and Innovation Centre. Through detailed consultation with the Vale of White Horse and the granting of Priority Planning Status, we obtained agreement to commence construction on this nationally significant facility last year, months before planning permission was granted, to assist with the UK’s response to the
COVID-19 pandemic.

Health Centre, Milton Keynes
Whitehouse Health Centre is a new purpose-built facility covering 30,400 sqft located within the Western Expansion Area of Milton Keynes, developed and funded utilising the innovative Milton Keynes Tariff by Milton Keynes City Council with support from NHS England. The building provides a range of healthcare uses including a GP surgery, community pharmacy and proposed satellite service provision delivered by two regionally based NHS Trusts and currently in the fitting out stage ahead of public opening. There is also a coffee shop and facility for a mobile screening trailer in the secure car park area.
The Carter Jonas team were engaged by Milton Keynes City Council shortly after practical completion of the building with the brief of negotiating rent and lease terms for various tenant occupations involving necessary liaison and negotiation with tenant representatives including legal and valuation advisors. The building is now fully let to healthcare providers which fulfils the development and social objectives of the City Council in ensuring such service provision to the residents of the area, both existing and in the future, as development of the Western Expansion area continues over the coming years with an eventual capacity of some 6,500 homes plus employment, education and recreational provision.

Worcester College refurbishment, Oxford
In 2016 our Building Consultancy team were awarded a contract to advise and coordinate other sub consultants to ensure delivery of refurbishment works to the north side of the front quad, known as Staircases 3, 4, 5 & 6. The conservation repair and refurbishment works were completed during summer 2021 and in November 2022 at the Oxford Preservation Trust annual awards ceremony we, with the contractors, received a certificate ‘Recognising the Contribution
to Oxford'.

Our professionals brought two Oxfordshire farming families together at Wantage to promote a strategic development scheme to deliver much needed housing to Science Vale. Having achieved a Local Plan allocation and an outline planning permission for a scheme including around 1,500 new homes, we appointed a development partner, St Modwen, to help the landowners bring forward an exemplar large-scale development now called Kingsgrove.
We have since overseen the delivery of high-quality infrastructure, including woodland areas and public open space.

Carter Jonas' Oxford commercial agency team is formed of the most active science and technology experts in the market, working in tandem with our colleagues across the Golden Triangle and our national Head of Science and Technology.

House Farm,
Hambleden Valley
Our rural agency team handled the off market disposal of Rockwell End House Farm in the Hambleden Valley north of Henley which completed in October 2022.
An exceptionally well located residential farm comprising period farmhouse and extensive range of traditional farm buildings benefitting from planning consent for conversion the farm extended to about 160 acre (65 ha). Our knowledge of active buyers, experience of the area and sale strategy enabled the sale process to go from initial viewings to best offers within a month securing the end sale substantially above £5m guide price. We are actively providing the vendors with consultancy advice for an onward purchase.

An Idyllic Family
Home, Islip
The Residential Sales team received instructions to market a beautifully renovated Georgian house located in the delightful village of Islip. Providing over 5400 sq ft (500 sq m) of accommodation, the house had the perfect balance of accommodation with 5 reception rooms, 6 bedrooms together with outbuildings and garaging.
A successful marketing campaign resulted in a sale being achieved in a short space of time with contacts exchanged shortly thereafter.

High Specification Apartments Above New Oxford Hotel
Carter Jonas were instructed to advise on the specification and furnishing of 6 apartments above a new hotel in Oxford. The apartments were all duplex apartments finished to a high specification and were let quickly to suitable tenants looking to rent in Oxford. The rents ranged from £1950 pcm for a one bedroom duplex to £3000 pcm for a 3 bedroom duplex. Many of the apartments benefited from a balcony with some spectacular views across North Oxford and beyond.

Earl's Green is an exciting collection of superbly built new houses by Sweetcroft Homes with three, four or five bedrooms.
The development is designed to blend perfectly into Yarnton’ s village environment, built in a pleasant mix of traditional brick and clay tiles with contemporary weatherboarding. All the houses look out onto the large, open green area, studded with mature trees. The houses are designed to be highly energy efficient with the aim to exceed current insulation and energy efficiency standards by up to 40%.
The Carter Jonas Oxford Residential team were instructed by Sweetcroft Homes to market the houses at an early stage off plan. Our involvement commenced with a full site appraisal with a recommendation of suitable asking prices for the 10 new homes.

Carter Jonas were instructed to let this beautiful 6 bedroom Victorian Family house positioned in a desirable Central North Oxford side Road. The property featured approximately 2500 sq ft of living accommodation and was furnished to a particularly high standard which was particularly desirable for any applicants looking to relocate for Oxford schooling. A letting was quickly agreed at £8000 pcm.

Biodiversity Net Gain
Buckinghamshire
For a Buckinghamshire landowner, we have undertaken a strategic site review across their 4,500 acre land holding for their opportunities to engage with Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). The land holding comprises a number of diverse sites with a range of occupiers under differing tenancy terms.
The objective of the review for BNG was to identify which sites across the holding would be able to deliver the best BNG return whilst also identifying existing use values, occupier security of tenure and strategic long term land use.
The result of the review enabled the client to progress with their internal plans for delivering sites to be used for BNG purposes.
