In this live debate, the four advisers debated the role of technology in the advice process, the different fee systems, the advice gap and financial regulation.
They also discussed the return of high street banks
into advice.
Despite the increase in technological disruption in financial services, Holland Hahn & Wills chartered financial planner Amyr Rocha Lima says there is still a lack of tech support
in having a back office that helps the adviser focus on the client rather than just store information.

At the beginning of this year we had a series of posts from resident experts on what could be expected in the coming year. As we continue through the latter half of the year it’s time to look back and reflect on the year so far.

Chief Market Strategist for EMEA, to talk us through it.
With the FCA having released its final verdict on FSCS reform, the regulator
appears to have listened to Danby’s calls for a fairer compensation scheme.
J.P. Morgan Asset Management weren’t the only ones to weigh in on what we could expect from 2018. Resident expert Danby Bloch, Platforum consultant and Chairman of Helm Godfrey, also shared his hopes for 2018…

The panel agreed that putting together a clear and precise set of initial rules is fundamental for a well-functioning investment committee as well as defining the role of the chair to make sure objectivity is maintained and to avoid
risk of conflicts. The verdict was clear: outsourcing an investment committee comes with its pros and cons.

In this Wired our experts agreed that the shocks of a potential Corbyn-led government would be less than those that a hard Brexit might cause to the UK.
The general election of 2017 saw prime minister Theresa
May’s Conservative party losing its majority at the Commons, while the opposition, led by Labour’s leader Jeremy Corbyn, defied predictions gaining seats in the house and a 40 per
cent share of the vote.
With the next UK general election due in 2022, when the UK will have been outside the EU for three years already, commentators have argued a potential Corbyn government won’t create much noise, as opposed to what a hard Brexit would do.
