Marketing Week begins search for 2023's
Top 100 most effective marketers
Marketing Week is once again seeking to celebrate marketers who have connected with colleagues and customers to deliver impact for their brand, through our fifth annual Top 100 list, sponsored by Digitas.
Marketing Week will again celebrate effective marketing leadership this year with the fifth annual Top 100 Most Effective Marketers list.
With the cost-of-living crisis and the shifting tectonic plates of the global economy continuing to define business priorities, 2023 is already shaping up as a critical year for kick-starting growth in the post-pandemic era.
Against this backdrop, the 2023 edition of the Marketing Week Top 100, sponsored by Digitas, will again offer the definitive showcase of what makes an effective marketer, profiling and acknowledging the achievements of 100 UK marketers across 10 sector categories. Our search starts now, and will culminate in the naming of the Top 100 in October, followed by the announcement of our Marketer of the Year at the Marketing Week Awards in November.
Russell Parsons, editor-in-chief of Marketing Week, says: "Marketing Week is all about elevating the influence and impact of marketing and marketers. We do that by holding the industry to account and by showcasing achievement. The Top 100 is very much about the latter. By celebrating effective marketing leadership, we are not only giving due credit to those that are achieving in a very challenging environment, we also hope to inspire others by showing what is possible."
As this year’s headline sponsor of the Marketing Week Top 100, Digitas CEO Jen Berry says the agency is "proud to be championing marketers who are creating a better future and propelling business forward".
She adds: "In a complex, ever-changing world, marketers face innumerable challenges, but also huge opportunities. Those who are successfully creating meaningful connections within their organisations as well as with their customers, and are creating real positive impact, should be celebrated. We’re looking forward to shining a spotlight on the best marketers of 2023."
The methodology
The final list of 100 marketers will be selected from longlists in each of the 10 sector groupings compiled by senior members of the Marketing Week editorial team. These will then be ranked and whittled down by our panel of judges – whose combined experience in the marketing industry is unrivalled, but who can also attest authoritatively to the rapid evolution of the marketing skill set. The Marketer of the Year will then be decided from a shortlist of those judged the best in each category.
Our judges will be asked to weigh marketers' track records based on criteria including business success – such as financial results, brand metrics and alignment with business goals – as well as the impact and influence they've achieved through connecting with their business, their marketplace and the marketing industry.
Those considered for the longlists are the most senior marketers at a brand, company division or unit. They must have worked for a UK brand or company, or had responsibility for the UK market, and must have achieved against the criteria over the past 18 months.
