What is a deactivator?
When an article tagged with an EAS soft tag is passed over an EAS Label Deactivator, the soft tag is deactivated and will not cause the perimeter EAS antennas to alarm when the customer leaves.
What is a verifier?
Our portable verifiers can detect labels and tags that are active and have not been deactivated. They can also determine the exact location of an active anti-theft tag or label. These portable verifiers can also be used to check if a deactivator is working properly.

At the point-of-sale (POS), minimizing the time customers wait in line can be the first step to better customer service. With Checkpoint’s non-contact deactivation pads, retailers can protect merchandise without increasing the customer’s wait at checkout to remove or manually detune the security tag. Checkpoint’s deactivation pads automatically deactivate disposable security tags as merchandise is passed over the pad, through the deactivation field. The large field, made possible with radio-frequency technology, assures that each tag is deactivated successfully. Customers are unaware that the entire process has taken place. The RF Deactivation occurs during the scanning of a product. This makes the Scan – RF Deactivation process seamless. Checkpoint connects the RF Deactivator to the RF EAS deactivation antenna inside the scanner. (see red outline ) In many scanner models, the RF Deactivation antenna is already installed. The barcode scanner has a EAS deactivation antenna within the scanner, the EAS Deactivation antenna is around the scan window. The EAS deactivation antenna is not electrically connected to the scanner.

The OMNI® tool combines three EAS accessories – Personal Tag Verifier (PV),Deactivation Verifier (DV) and Portable Deactivator (PD) – into a single ergonomic package. It eliminates the constant search by Loss Prevention personnel for the various tools needed to maintain the security system. Instead, they’ll find them all contained in the same, easy-to-hold, easy-to-use EAS tool. Thanks to the integrated white card, the OMNI® verifier in particular can also be used to deactivate labels.The customer’s consent is required for this.
